Pop on down Thursday 4th of February come and join us for an evening of fine tequilas and mezcals with cocktails on arrival, full tasting session of both available portfolios hosted by UK Brand Ambassador Jon Lister and some delicious Mexican inspired tapas for the all inclusive ticket price of £25 a head.
Tapatio
The founder of Tapatio Don Felipe Camarena was born into a family that had distilled tequila since back in the early 1800s. The family’s original distillery was destroyed and abandoned during the Mexican Revolution. However determined to continue in line with the family business In 1937, Don Felipe opened La Alteña Distillery in the mountainous region of Jalisco, Mexico, known for producing the best blue agave. Now some 79 years later the distillery is owned and operated by his grandson Carlos Camarena, who today, as Master Distiller, maintains the same standards of quality and excellence set down by his grandfather. Over the past four years the tequilas from La Alteña distillery have become a phenomenon in the UK and they now enjoy an unrivalled reputation for quality, integrity and authenticity amongst Tequila connoisseurs.
Ilegal Mezcal
Desperate for a good mezcal to stock at his bar, Cafe No Se, John Rexer began smuggling artisanal mezcal from Oaxaca to Guatemala in 2004. More fitting of a Soderbergh film, Ilegal's history is full of bandits, river rafts, bribes and disguises.Once in his bar it didn't take long for word to get out about this smooth and smoky spirit that was only available from the backroom at Café No Se. Soon, this mezcal was being carried in the luggage of travellers passing from Guatemala to America and beyond. In late 2009, Ilegal Mezcal became legal and today is carried in over 25 US states, Australia and countries in both Europe and the Caribbean.
Perhaps not as rich in history as Tapatio, but definitely just as rich in flavor!
