Every 1st Wednesday of the month

Close to Spitalfields, Cafe 1001 is located in the cool, trendy and up-and-coming area that is Brick Lane. Fusing the ideas of a cafe and a nightclub, Cafe 1001 is principally an entertainment venue.

Cafe 1001 put acts on every night in two rooms ranging from unsigned indie-rock bands and nu-jazz collectives on week days to drum & bass, techno and house DJs on the weekends. They operate a free entry policy which means that 90% of their acts are open to the public free of charge, sounds good no? This policy has secured them huge and devoted crowds of students and young creative people.

Very popular and very cool, Cafe 1001 is the place to go if you fancy seeing some live music and revelling in all the joys Brick Lane has to offer. Don't miss out!

I work on Bricklane and once I went to 1001 for a cocktail after work on a Thursday evening. As a local I understand that you need security at the door, eventually to search bags and check you ain't carrying anything dangerous. However, I find extremely odd when one of the security got my wallet out of my bag and start to search through my I.D. cards and personal items. I asked to stop but I have been told there could be drugs in there; so I just asked to talk to someone in charge, they laugh at me and told me it wasn't possible. We just left, horrible place. I think those thugs have too much freedom over ordinary people going out for a drink.

Such a really cool place right in the middle of Brick Lane, I always enjoy going here. The fact it's free entry definitely makes it the icing on the cake.
