Matt Whiley (aka The Talented Mr Fox) was recently recognised as one of London’s most influential people, so it’s always worth checking in on any new ventures from this experimental mixologist.

He’s taken to Showdown this time around; a 35-cover basement bar serving playful twists on American classic cocktails below Marylebone’s The Lockhart restaurant. Interiors are stripped back and minimalistic, with a smattering of vintage furniture to take in while you inspect a bespoke cocktail list brimming with rye and bourbon.

Drinks are typically adventurous and include Iced Tea Cocktails as well as signatures like the Smoking Bandito (tequila, corn, smoked hickory butter, lime). There’s also bar food including Deviled Eggs, Shrimp & Grits and Beef Ribs if you should fancy some Deep South-inspired snacking.

Open after work throughout the week (except Monday), Showdown takes reservations at the bar and welcomes walk-in visitors.
