Village East - Restaurant Bar Review

Village East - Restaurant Bar Review

You're so right, Bermondsey does sound like a rough 'em tough 'em, Cumbrian cheese, but it's also the location for hidden edible embellishments just shy of London Bridge. Invited down to try their range of rustic and thoughtful plates, I let Village...

Food - Very Very good Staff - Friendly and helpful We did have the occasional tepid pint, and maybe slightly louder music downstairs would create a bit more atmosphere. But overall very enjoyable thank you :) visited Village East on 15 Feb 2017

A fantastic evening in the ‘little room’ with a party of 10. It was a lovely setting with interesting, delicious and plentiful food. The service was attentive, efficient and good humoured throughout the night and made for a thoroughly enjoyable celebration. Well done. visited Village East on 10 Feb 2017

The room and food was great but I would say we felt a little forgotten downstairs there in the private room. The button on the wall didn't seem to get the waiter's attention so we had to go upstairs every time we wanted to order. And the wifi did not work properly at all which was very frustrating as it was a working lunch. visited Village East on 05 Feb 2017

I visited Village East with work colleagues. We were a large group of people and were seated in 3 different tables. Food was good and service was attentive although the tables were served at different times, meaning some people had to wait for the last table to finish before heading back to the office. the only cons was that we were seating near an open kitchen and the smoke from the grill kept coming towards us making the air a bit too thick and left the venue smelling of grilled meat. A massive thank you though to the receptionist Hannah who has helped me getting the party organised and was very professional throughout. Thanks. martinab visited Village East on 31 Jan 2017

A group of 14 of us visited on a Saturday night, the whole experience from the initial booking to actually sitting down to eat was superb. We opted for the Feast Menu at £45 p/p which allowed everyone to try a bit of everything, the food and portion sizes were excellent. However it was the service that impressed us the most, our waiter was brilliant and very attentive. I would certainly recommend for large groups and I will definitely be returning in the near future. visited Village East on 28 Jan 2017

Very disappointing customer service, including the Manager being very rude to me and some other guests in the party whilst we were ordering which was somewhat unexpected and unnecessary, the set menu which we were allowed to order from changing last minute from the menu which had been agreed on email previously without me being informed and the food taking over an hour to arrive after it had been ordered. Further to this, the booking process was very onerous and not customer friendly in the least, including me being left an answer phone message and being asked to call back within 4 minutes or risk losing my booking, very dissatisfactory and I certainly won't be returning. visited Village East on 25 Jan 2017

Double dated with a couple of friends that we had not seen for a while. The food was marvelous! The staff were very helpful, as we had a member of our party who was gluten free and the waitress provided great info on the dishes for her. This was a complicated time for them - full of Christmas parties - but everyone was cheerful, attentive and sweet. There was a little complication near to the end with the bill, but the manager Michael was very professional and lovely and solved our issue swiftly and with grace (thank you very much for your help!). My five cents? Ask the waiters for their recommendation with the wine list - it is extensive and full of gems!! - Highly recommend :)

Had ourselves a really lovely night here. Have to say that the Gelato Sour is one of the best sour cocktails that i've had in London and the black garlic mayo with our baby squid was darn dreamy, thanks for a great night!

Friendly staff, great choice of food and drink but the thing that most impressed me about this place was the decor. So stylish, welcoming and full of charisma. Definitely got a real homely feel to it. A must visit.
