Most of what you read about AI in the UK is fear, hype and
hand‑wringing. This evening is about the
opposite: real science, real breakthroughs, and what happens when
AI meets living cells and human brains.
Join neuroscientist and neural‑engineering pioneer Professor Reinhold Scherer (Head of Computer Science & Electronic Engineering, University of Essex) for a fast‑paced, jargon‑free conversation about:
- Microscopic “dancing” robots that can move through blood vessels to deliver precision cancer drugs
- Brain–computer interfaces that let people communicate and create using only their neural activity
- How “synthetic biological intelligence” might help us outsmart complex diseases like brain cancer
- Why the UK needs to tell better stories about AI – and how this work could be one of them
Hosted by Duncan Bird, Innovation Director at Oxford Innovation and founder of AI Works, who helps founders and brands turn AI from buzzword into useful products, stories and services.
You don’t need a technical background.
If you’re AI‑curious, sceptical, or just bored of the usual headlines, this is for you.
