Description
Mixing a swish drinks list with continental plates, The Seveney on Essex Road offers a leafy local drinking spot on the outskirts of Islington. What was once the Hops & Glory, this charming restaurant and bar on the corner of Mitcheson Road has brings as much beauty to its food and drinks as it does to its interiors.
Decked out in cool blues and turquoises, with lush hanging foliage and huge windows, The Seveney appears more as an oasis than a regular Essex Road boozer. Offering a twelve-tap rotation of British and Belgian brews, the drinks menu also incorporates a range of natural and biodynamic wines, and a cocktail list influenced by its botanical surroundings.
If it's eats you're after then The Seveney can furnish you with a number of exciting European-inspired plates. Focusing on fresh, seasonal and interesting, you can chow down on artichokes and fried dumplings, coal-roasted top rump and smoked aubergine, and pork belly with tarragon polenta and chanterelles. Open from midday at the weekend, you can also score some tasty brunches and slap-up Sunday roasts.
