Godet

Godet is a vibrant wine bar and listening venue located on Essex Road in Islington. Housed in the former Seveney pub, it’s the brainchild of Sylvain Bertozzi, also known for the acclaimed Hackney wine bar Binch. The space blends the charm of a traditional British boozer with a modern, music-forward twist. Inside, the bar retains a cosy, pub-like warmth with updated design elements, seating around 40 guests indoors and another 20 in a relaxed beer garden. A standout feature is its high-fidelity sound system, which sets the tone for nightly DJ sets spinning funk, soul, disco, house, and Afrobeats, making Godet as much a destination for music lovers as it is for wine enthusiasts.

The wine list is approachable yet curated, with a focus on French and European bottles, listed by grape variety and ranging from sparkling Loire Valley wines to bold reds. Complementing the drinks is a rotating food residency. With plans to expand into Sunday roasts and indulgent desserts through a collaboration with The Ingredientist Kitchen, Godet is quickly establishing itself as a cornerstone of Islington’s evolving wine and nightlife scene.
