'This week's TV Dinner features one of my favourite Japanese films of all time. Tampopo (1985) is a celebration of life, love and gastronomy told through charming, funny and (at times) heartbreaking episodes related to food. The film is populated with a formidable cast – you'll meet a determined widow attempting to resurrect her failing ramen business and the cowboy trucker who trains her up, a bad-ass gangster couple with an erotic egg yolk fetish, and a choir homeless foodies with discerning taste for fine wine. For the dinner menu we took inspiration from the countless dishes that appear in the film, including, of course, Tampopo's own "Spring Onion Special" ramen.'
'Since October 2013 I have hosted regular supper clubs in intimate venues around East London. My cooking style is influenced by my Japanese and French parents who are both great home cooks. From them, I inherited my love for simple, honest cooking paired with good company. The menu varies every time based on seasonal themes, but it’s always based on Japanese comfort food, with my own twist on each dish.'
This is a casual dining experience so you may well be sharing a table with your fellow Bring an Orange Wednesdayer's. £5 ticket holders may not be allocated a table but you will all be nice and comfortable.
