Since its opening in July of 2012, LARDO is stylish bar and restaurant that has come to occupy the iconic Arthaus building and has been welcomed into the Hackney bar and restaurant scene with open arms. Offering a non-traditional take on the classic pizzeria, Damian Currie (ex St. John Bread & Wine and Zucca) follows the seasons of Italy, serving up a selection of Southern dishes in the summer and a move to the North during the winter with a menu that changes daily.

All pasta and breads are made in-house, and the charcuterie is made from Mangalitza pigs raised in Somerset and produced at Native Breeds in Gloucestershire. LARDO also serve a selection of classic cocktails, and boast an impressive wine list that can be served by the glass, carafe or bottle.

Perfect for an after-work bite to eat, a catch up with friends over a few drinks or a night with that special someone, LARDO is a chilled out space that tastes as good as it looks.

The Host was really lovely - he accommodated us last minute which was much appreciated. Food was gorgeous too - the pumpkin pizza and the potato pizzas were AMAZING! Muffin4 visited LARDO on 21 Oct 2016

Excellent, regional Italian cooking made with care, flair and knowledge. Portions are generous, the room is buzzy and fun and the service quite charming and (mostly) efficient. Never an off night - Lardo is utterly brilliant. visited LARDO on 20 Oct 2016

We were really excited to go to this restaurant. My boyfriend is italian and rated the menu before we went. the decor in the restaurant in great - a bit east london too cool for school but needs must so we got it and it was well done. Our waitress was very kind although too busy so it took us a good 20 minutes before we could order a drink and then almost twice as long to receive it. Out food actually came before the drinks which was annoying. The charcuterie was mean - couldnt have been sliced thinner and then served with nothing. Just meat on a board- we asked for bread. We then had a dish with guanciale again a really mean amount, with the rind still on and super chewy - rest of the dish was ok. For the main meal the pizza was overdone on top and underdone on the bottom and the spaghetti came cold. The wine choices we not great. Finally service was clumsy and rude at time with food being thrown down by one manager and the staff more into speaking with their friends. Probably wont go again. Suggest you save your money their are much better italians in town and/or cool places if thats what youre looking for. visited LARDO on 21 Oct 2016

Food wine and service very good. Wish we had more time to explore the menu. Espresso was a big disappointment. Very sour and nasty as mentioned to staff visited LARDO on 14 Oct 2016

Delicious food, big mixture of dishes, some unusual flavours that work so well together and also the traditional can't go wrong stuff too. Loved it will be back. visited LARDO on 14 Oct 2016

Lovely food but an hour's wait for the main course which meant we had to eat in a terrific hurry to avoid being late for the opera. Staff very inexperienced and ordering system appeared to be a shambles. tension over time ruined my evening and was surprising as we were told we could only have the table for two hours - it took very nearly that long for the food to come.

Lardo is an exceptional dining experience. The food is fresh and well balanced and, most impressively, it is truly original. It stands alone despite the trendy competition that surrounds it.

Pros: Only the decoration and the guy with the tache at the reception! Cons: The staff. Very nervous and very difficult to get hold of for ordering. They charged two drinks we didn't have and when we asked we got "hmm, are you sure?" for an answer from the waiter. Also we had to wait am unreasonable amount of time for our mains. I would go back only a mid-week day that I hope it will be more relaxed

Lardo is the greatest restaurant in East London; the food is always surprising and excellent, this time I ate sage and anchovy fritters and espresso and grappa jelly! Terrible, I took my GF there as it was her favorite restaurant. Took at least 35 mins to get our drinks ordered and delivered (beer and a Prosecco??!). the food was then another 25-30 mins, our mains came before our starters (although the food was great!) The waiter said he would give us the starters for free. We ended up just getting a free drink.... Took well over 20 mins to pay,... the other waiter looked seriously pissed off when we said we would like to remove the service charge... thought about leaving without paying. The manager was having a massive argument with the chef.... the chef seems to be in the right for what it's worth... Not going back. Ed visited LARDO on 23 Aug 2016

Great service. Food was good and not too expensive. Only problem was 2 hour limit for bookings, which also meant people were left standing around waiting for tables. Would go again joe49 visited LARDO on 25 Jun 2016
