About
Join Moo Canoes and Barge East this summer as we bring back Wick-Lit-Pick — our community canal clean-up event designed to help keep Hackney Wick's waterways looking their best.
Whether you're a regular paddler, local resident, sustainability champion, or simply fancy doing something positive for your local community, we'd love to have you involved.
Participants can help clean the waterways from the water aboard canoes and kayaks, or from the towpath alongside the River Lee Navigation. We'll provide all equipment, including litter pickers, bags, gloves, buoyancy aids and a safety briefing before you get started.
The event runs from 12pm until 7pm, but there's no need to commit to the whole day. We simply ask volunteers to give at least one hour of their time.
As a thank you, everyone who takes part will receive a complimentary pint, glass of house wine or soft drink to enjoy afterwards at Barge East or The Milk Float.
It's a great opportunity to meet local people, spend time outdoors, explore Hackney Wick from a different perspective and help make a genuine difference to the waterways we all enjoy.

This is a free community event, but registration is encouraged so we can manage equipment and canoe availability.
Participants are welcome to arrive at any point during the event and stay for as little as one hour.

Canoe and kayak spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.

Event may be adapted or postponed in the event of severe weather conditions.

Alcohol will only be served to guests aged 18+ with valid identification where required.

Hackney Wick's waterways are one of East London's greatest assets, supporting wildlife, recreation and our local community. Through Wick-Lit-Pick, we're aiming to bring people together to help protect and improve the canals we all enjoy while celebrating the unique riverside neighbourhood we call home.

2. Tickets are issued subject to the rules and regulations of the venue.
3. Please check your tickets, as mistakes cannot always be rectified.
4. Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by the promoter, team, performer or venue for a variety of reasons. If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
6. Every effort to admit latecomers will be made at a suitable break in the event, but admission cannot always be guaranteed.
7. We regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase.
8. Tickets are sold subject to the venue or promoter's right to alter or vary the programme due to events or circumstances beyond its control without being obliged to refund monies or exchange tickets.
9. If this ticket is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the promoter, venue management, DesignMyNight or one of their authorised sub-agents, it will become voidable and the holder may be
refused entry to or ejected from the venue.
10. The venue may operate a No Smoking Policy.
11. The promoter, venue management and DesignMyNight accept no responsibility for any personal property.
12. The event listed on the purchased ticket is strictly for ticket holders who are over 18 years of age. Identification may be required.
