The view of the river and the London Eye is fabulous and it is fun being on an historic boat on the Thames. The food iis quite good. But unfortunately the service was a little slow and the staff seemed uninterested. The worst thing was an alarm bell that kept going off for quite long periods of time! The staff just ignored it and didn't give us any explanation as to why it wasnt being sorted out. Very odd. I go here fairly often but will probably give it a miss for a while. visited The Tattershall Castle on 11 Oct 2017

I have to give this place at least a 4 due to the location and ambiance, but I am tempted to score it lower. You cannot beat a table directly above the Thames with a view of Bankside and the London Eye. The vessel itself is gorgeous. The presentation was remarkable. However, we felt neglected by the staff. It was a Monday offseason and not busy, and the staff seemed more involved in backfill tasks and chatting with each other than they were with tending to the few tables seated that day. My Ploughman's Lunch was great, and the portions certainly sufficient. However, my friend's meat pie came to the table cold on the inside. This was addressed after we finally got the staff's attention, but it took some 15 minutes to get a new pie. this seemed odd since our first order came up in like 5 minutes. I am going to assume that our e3xperience was an anomaly. I highly recommend this as a place to experience London like few others, and it is right there near Whitehall, and so many other sites. visited The Tattershall Castle on 09 Oct 2017

A group of about 30 of us were there for casual work drinks. Apart from people losing a few bags/purses etc. we had a good time. Not the best atmosphere you can find in London, you could hardly hear the music. But if you are looking for a pub type vibe this is definitely a standout one. The views are the highlight here. shhhutupmeg visited The Tattershall Castle on 29 Sep 2017

We were 24 people and not 22 as booked. But this could have been solved a lot more smoothly. I came and informed 30 minutes before arrival about the change. Still we had not enough places when we arrived (this was easily fixed), there was not prepared 24 fish and chips. When we were about to eat dessert I was informed that you did'nt have enough of the preordered dessert. The serving of drinks was slow. You could easily have sold the double amount of drinks. We ate at 5 different places on out trip to London. The other places were a lot better at serving our group. visited The Tattershall Castle on 29 Sep 2017

We love the Tattershall Castle and its location but found it was not the best place to go for Sunday Lunch. The food was disappointing and not what we expected. Very poor. The fish and chips were dreadful- first the chips were not cooked properly - barely warm and soggy and had to be sent back, then the fish was also not cooked properly with limp undercooked batter. Hugely disappointing. The waiter however was very good indeed. The mgmt agreed and waived the bill so that was appreciated. visited The Tattershall Castle on 27 Aug 2017

Had a table booked for 16-18 people. Table was booked and prepared but not very well signposted so guests had to look around to find it. The staff were not aware that there was a £50 bar tab (charged for booking the table) so had to spend time with them to set tab up. Considerig I brought in over 20 people to the venue I don't think I should have been charged a booking fee. The sharing foods options on the menu was extremely limited, so could only order chips as sharers. Drinks were fine although the bar staff were easily distracted so not always easy to get drinks. Overall, 3 stars... OK, but could be so much better! visited The Tattershall Castle on 18 Aug 2017

Our visit started off badly and continued throughout. The waitress did not speak sufficient English to understand us and brought us one wrong meal - it was a vegetarian and it had ham and beef on it! We explained about the meat and another came over and aid that the ham was NOT meat! This aside, we felt that our other two meals were over-priced and that the portion sizes were mean. We also ordered two portions of chips at £3.00 a portion but these didn't arrived until well after the middle of the meal. I asked twice for them. Our bill was nearly £60.00 and we felt that we had been robbed because of the service and the standard of the food. To make matters even worse when we looked over the deck down to a prep area below which was out of sight for most customers, it was disgusting. What made the whole experience so upsetting for us was that as children we used to travel on this ferry from Hull across the Humber, so we were really excited as 3 sisters, to see it again. So we shan't be using it again or recommending it. visited The Tattershall Castle on 19 Aug 2017

Booked for Sunday at 11am. Phoned on Thursday to check that brunch was served. Was told it was. Arrived promptly - no staff about. When they turned up we were ignored for 10 minutes. I approached them and asked about food. Told that we could only eat downstairs. This was a shame as it was a beautiful day and lovely on the deck. Told that eating upstairs was impossible although there seemed to be some reluctant acceptance that we could be served downstairs and then we could carry our food up. Went downstairs to be told that there was no brunch. We left. We will return when new management take over as this lot do not have a clue how to serve customers. Location wonderful. Everything else aweful. I did send this feedback as a private email but that was ignored and I was encouraged to come to here and leave a review. visited The Tattershall Castle on 20 Aug 2017

When we arrived table was reserved so we sat at it but it took some time to get attention of a table staff (around 10minutes). It was four of us but there was only one menu on the table. I had to ask for more menus. I understand the location is prime but still way overpriced! Small portions and £8 for a sandwich. I don't think you should be charging extra for a small portion of chips! I couldn't taste crab in my crab and avocado sandwich and told the waiter not to worry as he offered to replace it as I didn't want to cause an issue. However, there was very little crab paste is that sandwich. To the point I thought there was none as I couldn't taste it. visited The Tattershall Castle on 29 Jul 2017

Good afternoon, Following our dinner/drinks event at the Tattershall on the 26th July I am writing to let you know that we wish to lodge a formal complaint against the services provided by the manager on 26th July. We were very disappointed with the poor standard of service we received. The Tattershall is one of the premier destinations in the city and the incident on Wednesday has reflected poorly on your company and staff. Initially the staff were very helpful in finding an alternative space for our group as there was confusion with the reservation which I had made. I had paid a deposit to book a space for 20 people for food and drinks from 6:30 – though we didn’t make our way down straight away I did come down several times to let the staff know we were at the Tattershall and would be coming down soon and would still want to use the space. Unfortunately the space was given away anyway which was disappointing, but the staff were exceptionally helpful with rearranging our seating arrangements and they are a credit to the company. The complaint we wish to make is regarding the manager on duty who was exceptionally unprofessional. We were very grateful that the staff were able to find us an alternative table, however the way I was spoken to by the manager in front of my colleagues at our work social was unacceptable. I was also confronted by her to identify which staff member I had spoken to about the reservation which was very unprofessional and also very awkward, she then proceeded to tell them off in front of us which was very uncomfortable for us, them, and the other customers around us. The food that did arrive was lovely, however three meals never came so when the bill arrived I let her know that we would only be paying for what we had, not for the items that never arrived. She became very angry at this point, raising her voice and saying that we had sent it back to the kitchen three times, (this was really confusing because the food never came to our table at all). She referenced our “group upstairs” several times which was also confusing as our entire group was seated together down stairs – she let me know that they had been verbally abusive toward her and arranged for security to ask us to leave. This was really surprising to us because we were seated together enjoying what food and drinks had arrived – other than letting her know that we wouldn’t be paying for the food that never arrived we had no argument with her whatsoever. The entire situation was very odd, embarrassing for your staff (the security guard actually asked “What am I doing here?”) and asking a seated group of senior professionals to leave the restaurant immediately was very bizarre behaviour. We have let our wider company know that the Tattershall Castle is a lovely venue but entirely unsuited to group dining events under the current management – we do hope that improvements can be made so that these types of events can be successful in the future. Kind regards, Amy Todd visited The Tattershall Castle on 26 Jul 2017

We booked a table but when we arrived it was such a warm evening decided to sit on deck to have fish and chips instead. This was no problem and our food was cooked fresh to order. A little pricey (approx £13.50 each) but take into consideration the view and the fact that you're in the middle of London and you'll soon realise it's worth it. Hello, Our party had a dismal time at The Tattershall Castle. The wait staff was slow and seemed untrained. 2 persons in our group ordered cob salads. One arrived with salad dressing, the other salad was missing the dressing. We requested the missing salad dressing. After waiting for what seemed like a super long time, we got up to ask about the dressing as we were all waiting to begin our meal. The waitress came over to our table and said "The dressing is finished" We really didn't know what to do with that sort of reply to our request for the salad dressing. She finally explained that the dressing was all gone or finished for the evening!!!! She didn't offer any solution or even ask if we wanted to order something different. It was one of the oddest experiences whilst out dining in London! SO, one person in our group did not have an entree that evening since nothing was offered as a solution and we were all a bit taken aback by the service. In the end, the salad was removed from the bill, but by then, we had a nasty taste in our mouths for The Tattershall Castle. Sadly this was our first visit and we won't be returning. visited The Tattershall Castle on 12 Jul 2017

I am sorry but I love the Tattershall normally but the afternoon tea was very disappointing for the price of £20 per person we had two doorstep finger slices of bread each with only cheese & chutney and then salmon and cucumber as a choice, we had 1 packet scone each with a packet of clotted cream and a packet of jam nothing was fresh and a plate of of Bakewell tart and chocolate tart slice and a couple of profiteroles.. The table wasn't set up for our arrival, we were given no plates, cutlery or napkins we had to ask for more raspberry jam but it came back to us as a coulis and not jam. To be fair we were offered complimentary drinks because they were running behind but I am sorry I had a better afternoon tea with a view of the Thames for not much more than this so the price was really not worth the value. Very disappointing and I wouldn't recommend an afternoon tea here. Sorry visited The Tattershall Castle on 08 Jul 2017

We had been looking forward to this for ages but were quite disappointed unfortunately. I'm not sure why it's advertised as a restaurant as it's essentially a Wetherspoons on the water, or rather in the water, as it's in the basement, so you can see the water out of the windows. The staff were friendly enough but some of the food was served cold and it's designed so that some of the tables are right next to the bar, so you're constantly being elbowed and pushed by punters whilst trying to eat. The place is a novel idea with good intentions but not enough care has been put in to want to venture there again. visited The Tattershall Castle on 24 Jun 2017

The view from the deck was exceptional, and I was unable to sit below in th restaurant as I had breathing /lung cancer problems so asked for the restaurant menu to be served upstairs, which after offering to pay cash was done,so every seperate item or drink we had to pay cash.the standard of food and choices were very limited If I return ,which I intend to do I won't book a table ,just turn up and have fish and chips on the deck,it's a shame as I was looking for a better dining experience and certainly more attentive trained waiters, they were pleasant but didn't have a clue how to look after a table or guests, with so many tourists visiting a much better standard is neccesary not to let London dining down, but the views sensational! visited The Tattershall Castle on 22 Jun 2017

We attended the "Dry Run"prior to the re-opening following refurbishment. The flooring, carpets, decor etc have been smartened up, but thankfully the welcoming feel of the venue has not changed. The burger shack on deck has become a fish and chip hut, and the menu in the restaurant is less extensive than before. Restaurant prices have risen - in keeping with a more premium product - but still okay considering the excellent location. Our waitress (Audrey) was good, and the kitchen accommodated my request to amend the content of my main course. Our mains were lemon sole and calves liver with bacon - both very tasty. Sticky toffee pudding and Eton Mess were our desserts; again both good (although another table seemed to doubt the validity of their Eton Mess). As ever, we enjoyed our time on board. visited The Tattershall Castle on 25 May 2017

In a word, disappointing. We were looking forward to seeing the results of the refurbishment, but I can't say that we could see any difference; and in view of the long notice there was of the re-opening it came as quite a shock that there was no draught bitter available. I don't think we will be coming back. Laurie & Sally Cansdale visited The Tattershall Castle on 24 May 2017

Iv'e always wanted to go to london to see new year in and watch there fireworks display and as we was in london in august 2016 for our 20th wedding anniversary we had lunch on tattershall castle on the thames and thought what would be better than to celebrate new year on board, so we booked there and then and wasn't disappointed we had the most amazing night and it wasn't over crowded as they limited the number of people on board, can't wait to book again for 2017, AMAZING, and thank you to all the wonderful staff.DawnHodgson. visited The Tattershall Castle on 31 Dec 2016

This was a fantastic choice! Having never fancied London in the past because of the crowds our friends joined us from the US this year wanting to experince it - and WOW, our night was just amazing! The view is for sure the most beautiful view of the London fireworks just opposite the London eye. The tattershal also kept numbers to a comfortable level - not over selling tickets so you couldn't move. I'm confident that everyone there had a great view! The live music was fab along with the disco and drinks were reasonably priced. We would for sure reccommend this and really hope we will visit again soon. My only complaint was that the night went too quickly! Thanks tattershal for the most amazing start to 2017!! visited The Tattershall Castle on 31 Dec 2016

Disappointed this year, have been doing nye event for many many years but this year we were not allowed to sit in bar area.it should be printed on the ticket what areas you are allowed to sit in. For £125 the event is very over priced and drinks over priced . Staff in night club area very argumentative with people complaining. I was charged different prices for same drinks, bar staff doing shots and dancing towards end of night so difficult to get served. As usual a very good venue for new years eve. Having spent previous years on the Embankment itself The Tattershall Castle well worth the money. That said it has leaped in price from £90 to £125 since the refurb. If you haven't tried it, I would still highly recommend it. Get there on time to secure a good seat. Even if you don't get a seat there is lots of space and the deck doesn't get busy until just before the fireworks. There are a number of bars on board and the burger shack is open most of the night serving hearty food to keep you warm. Drinks are a bit on the pricey side , but that's normal. You can also get premium tickets, which we haven't entertained so far, but if you want a guaranteed seat/table in the warmth of the cabin you may want to consider these. The main problem isn't with the venue or it's staff, but the idiots given high visibility jackets to marshal the crowds. Every year it is the same. It's a bit of a lottery depending on who you talk to whether you can actually get through. They never have any idea about the venues on embankment and unless you get a residents pass (which we didn't this year) you have to negotiate your way through. The last few years we have managed it, but this year was particularly bad with some people being sent back to the holding areas and being told they can't come through until 8pm. There was one marshal in particular who was ruthlessly sending everyone away. He was a nightmare to deal with. I guess a high visibility jacket can go to some peoples head. Thank goodness he wasn't given a bunch of keys or a clipboard as well! Many people tried to explain to him and recounted previous years experiences and he dismissed them as lies because "he'd been there last year". He clearly hadn't or was lying. As more people arrived his stance held no water and we were eventually let through, but this really shouldn't be an issue for people paying to access venues. There is plenty of room for people to queue outside the boat and everyone does so and its a very relaxed atmosphere until you throw an idiot with a high visibility jacket in to the mix. The Tattershall Castle should raise this with the organizers to ensure that there are proper arrangements for their guests so that they are let through. We certainly had fewer problems when we had residence passes. Daniel visited The Tattershall Castle on 31 Dec 2016
