We’re owned by local queer people!
Betty & Joan’s is owned by a small team of dedicated queer people who believe in creating incredible spaces for our community. The first place we created was The Queer Comedy Club – literally the first LGBTQ+ stand-up comedy club in the UK (and possibly the world).
When we were looking around to find a new home for our comedy club, we realised the best way to do it was to create our own gay bar to go with it. So we did, and Betty & Joan’s was born. Named after two comedy icons, Betty White and Joan Rivers, we’ve created a space we hope you love as much as we do.
So much more than a gay bar!
As with The Queer Comedy Club, our aim is to create a space that becomes part of the community, more than just a bar. We have regular drag and other entertainment in the main bar as well as the shows in the comedy club.
