Smokey Tails

Description

Smokey Tails is now closed till May '14, when it re-opens for its summer stint in Hackney Wick.

After a wonderfully successful summer pop-up in 2013, Smokey Tails set down roots in Haggerston to provide a permanent home for all things BBQ. Brought to you by 6 hard-working collaborators; Seth Troxler (Vision Quest), Ryan Crosson (Vision Quest), Ben Pound (Futureline), Jo Vidler (Secret Productions), Lyndell Sabine (Head Chef) and Sam Vidler (General Manager), this place has bundles of ideas ready to show off.

Smokey Tails is a cocktail bar and foodie haven that adds to East London's ever-expanding food and drinks scene. The concept centres on three key staples: music, BBQ and dancing - which we can all agree are a pretty magical combination. On the corner of Dunston Road, the space features a separate bar, restaurant space with room for 120 and, of course, a dance floor.

The beautiful canalside location and backyard BBQ feel make it a cool place to hangout and relax with friends, whilst enjoying the delicious smoked meats and frozen cocktails. As the name and mantra suggest, the bar will deliver a quality a smoked meat selection alongside a tasty selection of signature and classic cocktails. Head Chef Lyndell Sabine has developed a dedicated vegetarian menu and if there's any room in your bellies, the 'best' desserts in London (even if they do say so themselves). Beer drinkers will be kept happy with the guest and independent ale on offer, and cocktail lovers will have a whole host of exciting tipple to choose from. So if you're into the trendier side of East London, then this Hackney sun-trap will be right up your alley.

Rumours of mile long queues and ribs that would make you go weak at the knees were well in tow leading up to my Smokey Tails review. It’s safe to say that the hype couldn’t get any more real; and like everyone else, I found myself unable to wait one more day to pay it, and DJ Seth Troxler…
