Jim's Café is a project about community, food, service and friendship!
This project came about when three friends with a huge passion for food, drinks and hospitality decided to resurrect an iconic site on Chatsworth Road. Jim’s, the oldest café on the street, had been an Italian café and ice cream factory in the 1960s, and latterly was a much-loved local caff until it closed six years ago. Our idea is to create a true neighbourhood destination that is also worthy of championing.
Jim's stays true to its heritage – we’ve retained as much of the original 1960s décor as possible and have been inspired by it throughout the building, while also expanding into what was once the ice-cream-factory at the back of the building – and we propose to provide a perfect neighbourhood offering in its new incarnation that reflects the past and present of the area's residents.
Our offer is generous and humble but we would like to wow our guests whether they stop by for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or if they are popping in to pick up a coffee, juice or some pastries to go.
The food and ingredients we are working with are British, mostly organic and provided to us by small local suppliers that follow ethical practices and have a passion for their product.
Our pantry is reflective of the diversity of this beautiful neighbourhood, so you will find interesting far-flung condiments elevating our dishes.
We have created new Jim’s Juices, we are baking our own sourdough bread, muffins and pastries; curing our own bacon; and fermenting unique flavours and ingredients for the dishes and cocktails.
Our wine list will focus on small producers from both the new and old world who are making organic and biodynamic wines. We will be promoting unique and interesting wines by rotating some ‘special’ wines by the glass that represent some of the leading producers in these fields.
