Jim's Cafe

Description

Black Skulls London breathes a new lease of life into Chatsworth Road stalwart, Jim’s Café. The recently revived bar and restaurant is the latest project from Drew Esqulant (Black Skulls London) with the support of cocktail extraordinaire, Tony Conigliaro (Untitled, 69 Colebrook Row, Bar Termini), and culinary artisan, Andrew Clarke (Brunswick House).

From 1960’s ice-creamery to East London caff and former home of Nuno Mendes and Hugo Thorn pop up, Jim’s Café on Chatsworth Road, has had many iterations over the decade. Its newest incarnation is backed by East London lifestyle brand, Black Skulls. Founded by Drew Esqulant in 2010, Black Skulls was born in a breeze block garage in the depths of East London and has grown a cult following including the likes of Alexa Chung and Alex Turner. Famed initially for their custom motorbikes, leather jackets and iconic t-shirts designed by renowned artists including Stevie Gee and Ornamental Conifer, Black Skulls became a hub for creatives and bike enthusiast alike.

Now taking residency in Jim’s, Black Skulls is East London’s newest dining destination. The food, masterminded by Brunswick Houses’ Andrew Clarke and brought to life by head chef Simon Williams, Jim’s features fantastic looking, honest fare from mammoth double cheeseburgers (without a brioche bun in sight) to pig’s ear topped pizzas and an ever-changing menu of Sunday specials from the charcoal grill. Jim’s offers culinary perfection from comfort food staples like mac and cheese to eccentric twists on favourite flavours such as Arbroath smokies in miso cream.

For those on the hunt for liquid refreshment, the Jim’s bar is the latest home for revolutionary mixologist, Tony Conigliaro. The renowned champion of modern drinks has designed a bespoke cocktail list for Jim’s reflecting the personalities of the characters behind Black Skulls. The extensive cocktail menu is complemented by Brooklyn lager on draft and craft creators, HOBO Beer + Co.

Jim’s Café is located at 59 Chatsworth Road, E5 0LH and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am until 10:30pm.
