Bar Lotus

Bar Lotus in Dalston is the sixth outpost of a celebrated bar group that first made its mark in Shanghai, where its flagship venue earned international acclaim for design innovation. The Dalston location continues this legacy, blending East Asian influences with a distinctly modern London vibe. Its concept draws inspiration from twilight, with interiors that echo the gradient hues of sunset and the delicate tones of lotus blossoms.

The design, created in collaboration with Shanghai-based studio OHA, reflects a philosophy of minimalism and openness, aiming to create a space where guests feel as if they are under an expansive evening sky. Interiors are striking yet understated, defined by clean lines, bespoke furniture, and a palette of indigo blues and soft violets accented with warm reds. A central island bar serves as the focal point, while custom lighting and recycled-material details add subtle character. Outdoors, guests can enjoy a small but thoughtfully arranged seating area, ideal for those who prefer to sip their drinks in the open air.

Drinks at Bar Lotus are as considered as its design. The menu features a curated selection of cocktails that are balanced and harmonious, crafted expertly and with minimal theatrics on presentation. Each cocktail is presented in a single bold colour, reflecting the bar’s commitment to visual simplicity and flavour complexity, and they often include Asian ingredients such as yuzu, salted plum, and shiso. Signature serves include the Sango, a refreshing blend of sake, gin, and green tomato, and other inventive options that showcase seasonal flavours without resorting to gimmicks. Alongside these, guests can expect a concise list of premium spirits and a small but refined offering of bar snacks, ensuring that every element of the experience is cohesive.
