Description

Salvador and Amanda has been bringing cultural flavour and the fiesta of Spain to Leicester Square for over 12 years. Just a stones throw away from Leicester Square tube station, you can unwind in stylish surroundings whilst enjoying classic tapas, sumptuous cocktails (and sangria) and vibrant music.

Broody, atmospheric and tonal, Salvador and Amanda has just the same amount of Spanish sass as it does romance. From rich leather booths and candlelit tables, to a bustling dancefloor and cool colours, Salvador and Amanda isn't sandy Spanish, it's more an amorous fiesta.

Salvador & Amanda is all about drinks, tapas and fiestas! If you want to experience genuine Spanish tapas with authentic ingredients then head to this restaurant and club where your tastebuds won't be disappointed. As well as wonderful food, they also have special nights on, including the hip-swinging Flamencana evenings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Between Thursdays and Saturdays a DJ takes to the decks and the restaurant turns into a fun-time late night bar where you can dance the night away till the early hours of the morning.

The tortilla was fantastic! - & all the rest was great... visited Salvador & Amanda on 23 Nov 2016

We booked for 13 people and ordered 7 platters from the festive menu. How disappointed we all were with the food! Actually the food wasn't too bad but the quantity would have been ok if we were 3 or 4 people! Three plates of bread with 6 small slices, 3 bowls of olives, 3 platters of cold meat, 3 small bowl portions of patatas bravas, chorizo, mushrooms. 4 pieces of salmon, 3 small plates of chicken, 4 small bowls of prawns, grilled veg. Finally for dessert.... the most ridiculously small slices of cake the width of my finger and a chocolate brownies the size of a chicken stock cube! What a let down! Atmosphere was great though and the drinks were good! ☹️👎 visited Salvador & Amanda on 03 Dec 2016

Music was great and it was the perfect place for what I was looking for in terms of a drinking and dancing venue. I was, however, disappointed when a bouncer showed a large group to our reserved table who then sat there whilst our bags and drinks were still there - we were dancing right next to the table and had reserved it for the whole night. I spoke to a waitress about it and she ignored me. Then I spoke to the person who was in charge of the bookings - he said he would deal with it but didn't. If bouncers are going to show people to a table they need to confirm it is free first! Jess visited Salvador & Amanda on 26 Nov 2016

Lovely venue and food was nice. Wasn't quite expecting to be on the edge of the dance floor so it was a bit louder than expected. We ordered the party menu and it came out at various stages throughout the evening so was definitely a grazing meal. I think they forgot about our puddings but did eventually serve cake and candles for our birthday boy. visited Salvador & Amanda on 26 Nov 2016

Rediculous service! We were there 6.30pm on a Saturday evening for a 7.00pm booking. We were expecting a lovely relaxing time, listening to music and chatting, oh how wrong we were. We asked if we could sit at our table and have a drink to start, but they could not find our booking. No internet there so I could not show them the confirmation on my phone. When we say down we were asked 4 times in 5 minutes if we were ready to order! I had to tell the waiter to tell all the staff, we would let them know when we were ready to order. When we did order the food as out instantly, we actually left at 7.25pm, what a relxing evening... NOT Food tasted great, but I would never book again visited Salvador & Amanda on 29 Oct 2016

It was so much fun to be in Salvador & Amanda. Friendly staff, but they keep forgetting to bring food we ordered. I paid for three dishes of tapas and got only one and never received my money back. It gets soooo busy and there is no air in the venue. I had the table booked until 1AM but decided to leave early because they said they have to move tables because people were dancing!!! Never will go back.

Good Points: Quick service, good food, friendly staff, lots of choice - some of our group were vegans but they had lots to choose from. Not So Good Points: Not good for disabled people with a steep staircase down with no lift or alternative entry. Website said Happy Hour was 5-8pm but it was 5-7pm on the night. Sangria was £19 or £11 in Happy Hour - £19 seems excessive. Very loud and difficult to chat. peter36 visited Salvador & Amanda on 21 Sep 2016

I did not like the customer service, they were very unhelpful and didn't communicate well with me. The music was not spanish/latin as I expected. The food was ok. I made it clear that I did not want any nuts in my food as people at my table including me have allergies, however a lot of the dishes still had nuts in them even though they said no nuts. The food was really good, as well as the ambience and the service. They made a mistake with my booking and book the table for Friday when I asked it for Saturday. Staff was really helpful and friendly and sorted out quite quickly. I’m giving only three stars because I was told the DJ will play all kind of music but specially Spanish and Latin music, and she only played commercial music, not Spanish at all (well yes, Macarena in English and Bailando, but the English version), some Latin (I think three Sharika songs in the whole night), and when we asked her to play some Spanish song she told us it was English night. This was a disappointment as I felt we were lied to. We went there because we were told they played Spanish and Latin music and that is what we wanted for the night. Management was very nice when I complaint about this and offered us free drinks, really nice gesture, but as I told you, do not say people that you play a kind of music if you are not sure because then you are lying and getting people in under false advertisement. I think we’ll go back for dinner as the food and service was great, but not sure if we’ll stay for dancing again. Noemi visited Salvador & Amanda on 08 Jul 2016

Had a lovely experience Food was fab and atmosphere was great. One thing that put a slight downer on the night was it was my birthday and the DJ wouldn't speak to anyone. He made a point of shaking his head instead of saying "I'm sorry I'm not taking requests" and was incredibly rude about it- all of us on the table were musicians and djs. We would've never treated customers the way he did and personally we felt he shouldn't be in that line of work.

I booked a table for 19 people for my birthday at Covent Garden's Salvador and Amanda. The place itself has a nice atmosphere, its pretty with a good location and the food was OK. I booked on a sunday afternoon for the "flamenco show". I was told over the phone that as a group of 19 during the show we were required to pre order party menus. I asked if possible for us to not pre order a party menu and just order from the standard menu upon arrival. I was told that if we chose to do this we would not be guaranteed a seat in view of the flamenco show. When we arrived we were sat at a table NOT in view of the "show" anyway. Tapas was slow to come out and had a big wait between first and second round of tapas despite being asked to pre-order. The service was not great but service charge was added by the restaurant to the bar. Wasnt impressed with the show, I wouldn't really call it that. There was a guy playing guitar and a lady dancing next to him. most of us could not see properly what was going on. music sounded nice but overly quite disappointed with the experience. rae_strong visited Salvador & Amanda on 13 Mar 2016

I was really disappointed this time round with my visit to Salvador and Amanda. I have visited one other time before and thought then it was excellent and was looking forward to returning. Food however, was below standard. The Spanish omelette was raw runny egg through the middle which made it inedible, and the chorizo with potato should have just been labelled as 'potato' as there was only about 4/5 tiny cubes of chorizo sat on a bed of hard/burnt shreds of potato and more runny egg! The food came out within about 10 mins of ordering, which was good as we were in a rush but made me nervous it had just been heated through in a microwave or similar. The lamb and butternut squash dish however was a delight. I would very much recommend everyone try that. The taste card offer is also very good, with 50% off most of the menu! celkins00 visited Salvador & Amanda on 25 Nov 2015

We organised a party for around 50/ 60 people at Salvador and Amanda last Saturday and we had a great time! We reserved a private area only for us which was absolutely perfect for the amount of people. Also we agreed a menu with few tapas and drinks, the food was really nice and the sangria very good as well. Everything arrived on time and as agreed. The music was also amazing. I would definitely come back and I would recommend the place for a drink during the week or for a party. What also made the difference comparing to other places was that Kastro, the Manager, and Sarah, our main point of reference, have been super nice from the first contact, they always responded promptly to all our requests showing to be very helpful and flexible with our queries and requests. Really great time and would totally recommend. Even before we arrived, the team couldn't have been nice in helping to set up the evening and, although the food service was quite slow, they couldn't do more for us when we flagged anything up. The music wasn't really our cup of tea and given there were so many hen parties you would have thought they would have played better dancing tunes, but we made the best of it! There were 16 of us and we had the set menu which was delish and a total bargain at £21.50 per person! Would definitely recommend! rebeccada visited Salvador & Amanda on 10 Oct 2015

Pantomime of a flamenco show. The call it Flamencada and really it is a mediocre flamenco dancer quite uninterested and a singer/guitarist that cant hold the show together. Tapas where mediocre as well. All I can say is if you want cheap tapas and some intro to the world of Flamenco, it is OK, but please have very low expectations, because it is poor

This booking was for our son's 21st - a once in a lifetime event. The carousel table was tacky - looked more like a Smith & Western than a Spanish restaurant. The waitress took our order and failed to turn up with all of the order; the second requests turned up wrong and were returned - the food was OK but over priced. Were not made to feel special in any way and left very disappointed

Very disappointed. Traveled to London specifically to this Restaurant for a birthday celebration and to enjoy the advertised dinner and dancing with a Spanish flavour. I booked a table for the entire evening. We were placed on the edge of a tiny dance floor adjacent to an area where all the Friday night drinkers were congregating - so much for the "rich leather booths and candlelit tables". The food was perfectly pleasant, but by 9pm our waiter kept asking us if we wanted the dessert menu yet - even though we were trying to spread our Tapas experience over the more of the evening. Plainly they were expecting us to leave, even though I made it clear on their booking form that we planned to stay late. In the meantime, the Friday night crowd were swelling in number, getting noisier and virtually surrounding our little table and bustling us while we were trying to eat our food. By 10PM we were finally invited to move to a quieter table to clear the dance floor of tables - why weren't we positioned there to start with? And then the dancing started - well I say dancing, but in fact it was the aforementioned crowd of blokes, well inebriated by now, and pogo-ing around the cramped dance floor with drinks still in their hands, not caring who got wet. Why is it that these prancing drunks think that they are so attractive when bouncing and staggering around? I know that the restaurant can't/won't stop them dancing - I just wish they'd make sure they weren't holding glasses and beer bottles at the time. By 10.30PM we realised that our "Spanish Dining and Dancing experience" was going to be a huge let down, and we headed back to the station to return home. Next year I'll spent the 150 quid that I blew on this wasted evening in my local bar. Although I won't get the "Spanish experience" that I was looking for here, at least I'll have a decent meal without being jostled or harried out the door mid-way through the evening, and if we do choose to dance it won't be in competition with a drunken crowd.

Living Social voucher for two- 8 tapas and Cava plus entertainment. Excellent service and courteous staff. Good food and fantastic value for money. Great Flamenco entertainment . Highly recommended and will be back

Great for meeting up with a group of friends post work and then staying until late. Great food to share - not your boring pub grub and great cocktails 2 for 1 during happy hour helped get the evening started :)

I booked the Flamenco evening via groupon. They were really accomadating. The evening was lovely, the food was very nice, atmosphere was great and the staff were really lovely and helpful. Will definitely go back.

Had a fantastic night here celebrating my birthday! They really looked after us and we were all dancing all night. Great music! Food is fantastic too! Would highly recommend going with a group of friends :)

Booked at short notice for a quick pre-theatre meal and it was idea - lovely food, generous but not too much or too heavy, great service, and the pre-theatre was very good value. We'll be back, definitely for pre-theatre and probably to go a la carte at somepoint.

I booked a table for a girls night out. The booking service was quick and flexible, Great food, live music and good customer service. It was also nice and airy on a warm and rather humid evening in Lodnon. I would definitely recommend it.

My wife booked it for dinner on my b'day, Amazing place with a huge sitting capacity. Great food amazing Sangria and enjoyed the Flamenco performance. Was truly a wonderful experience, Gave a Spanish Holiday feeling. Will visit again soon. This place will be on my list for my favourite places to dine in.

We booked with TasteCard for our friend's birthday dinner and had a great evening: warm welcome at the door with heads up about happy hour ending in 5min and a recommendation of a great bottle of wine at half price. When the food arrived it was very tasty. Great selection of traditional tapas made with good ingredients and well. P.S. we actually forgot to bring our Taste card with us and the S&A team were incredibly helpful in getting us registered online to retrieve the card number and claim the 50% off food bill. Thank you S&A team!

I booked this restaurant for my birthday party 2 Saturdays ago. There were about 30 of us and the restaurant was very accommodating. I have a couple of friends with different allergies and they made sure they were taken care of all for the same price that others were charged. The amount of food that arrived was immense and we were all very happy. We had the table from 7-9 and they gently reminded us about 15 mins before that they needed the table back and moved us to a table at the bar which was exclusively for our group. Fantastic service, I had a wonderful birthday and would recommend it.

I booked a table for a large group for dinner and then afterwards for drinks last Saturday and we were very well looked after from the start. We were given plenty of time to chat and enjoy our sangria before we chose to have our meal. There was an abundance of food and all delicious and well served. The only disappointment was that the area we had booked weeks in advance for drinks afterwards turned out to be a tiny table with no chairs in a corridor. However our waiter kindly handled the situation and got us the small table in the middle for the rest of our evening.

Sorry to say, this was a terrible meal. The food was barely luke warm and incredibly bland. It tasted like it had been cooked well in advanced and then served rather than made to order. The cod fritters were bread like, pretty sure there was no cod. The chargrilled veg was soggy and tasteless. Overall very disappointed. Service was mediocre, having to ask twice for things.

Not normally mad on tapas but this was exceptional! Service was average - were waiting for ten minutes while five members of staff milled about. Ambience great - would go back.

Booked a table and got sat in a corridor - told we couldn't have a better table because it was booked - even though no-one sat at it while we were there. Terrible food. Meatballs cold and flavourless. Sent them back and they came back still cold. Flavourless calamari served without any mayonnaise. Badly microwaved frozen tapas and lousy service. Won't go again. Would advise anyone else against going.

Nice place, specially in chalet where we were. Food was good, however, despite the fact that we booked the table from 9pm and ordered food at 10pm they were in rush to take out our food and clean the table, so many time they asked us if we have finished our food which was not really good and made us feel like we have to rush to have our food, and finally they did not let us finish the food and took it. Neither front door security nor door waiter were friendly and we did not feel welcome.

Husband and I went to Wednesday Flamenco night on an Amazon voucher. We've never come across Salvador &Amanda restaurant in Covent Garden area before and were impressed with the Spanish ambiance and cozy tables. We're surprised to be seated at a table which was immediately in front of the wooden dais which the dancer would be performing, but it was actually okay and not too noisy. The staff were friendly and glass of cava and eight tapas were served and explained when we were ready. It was all freshly cooked and we actually couldn't eat it all, so was plenty for two people. Only thing was disappointing the (okay) dancer performed solo, accompanied by guitarist and after starting well after 8, clocked off and went home by 9:30! Our table was booked for the whole evening - but after we'd finished eating and the entertainment finished, the evening felt over. Maybe I was expecting too much as all in all, was good value for £37 for two. We enjoyed it, but can't say that we captured the 'passion' of Spanish flamenco as promised by the advert! Would definitely return on a normal night.

I've been before and it was a good experience, so I returned and to my dismay, the service was considerably worse. The waitress at the door (ground level, before you go downstairs to the dining area) greeting diners was outright rude - on entry, my friend said hello and asked how she was and she replied a blunt "good" with no smile, no reciprocation. Firstly, that in itself is already a joke. Secondly, after she finally found our booking (I actually had to point out my name on her sheet to her...), she told us she needed the table back after 1h 45m (I booked a 2 hour slot on the website) - fine; except the exact words she said were "there is a table for 7.45" but I had booked a table for 6pm. So obviously, I explained that I booked a table for 6pm and she ROLLED HER EYES at me and tutted, before trying to explain that what she was trying to say was that she needed the table back at 7.45. This entire conversation with her from start to finish was unwelcoming, cold and somewhat condescending - she really shouldn't be a greeter if she doesn't know how to smile or be polite (or find people's bookings!). Anyway, we were then led downstairs and seated - again, no smiles or anything to make us feel welcome. The service from this point onwards was taken over by the restaurant waiters, who were polite. Not every one was actually friendly, but at least they said "you're welcome" after we said "thank you". The food came pretty quickly so no complaints really, except the grilled lamb was almost cold when it arrived - we suspect it's because we ordered the fried squid and chicken wings too and they must have timed it a bit off, so that the lamb was done but they were still waiting for the squid and chicken wings to fully cook. All in all though, the food was still good. However, we had a turn of events after we finished our tapas. Nobody asked if we wanted the dessert menu and after 10-15 minutes, we decided to ask for them - except, nobody was around and it was almost as though the waiters purposely avoid making eye contact in fear that you'll flag them down with a request. When we eventually ordered our dessert, it didn't take too long to arrive. Also worth noting, is that there was another table sat near us who did not get any service for a long time since being seated - she actually got up, approached a waiter in front of us and asked him to go over to their table, explaining that the lady (the rude one greeting at the door) said they only had 1h 45m, so please could they order their food?! So basically, the food was good, the service was awful.

Brilliant evening with my BF at S&A, the Flamenco and Guitar player put on a great show. I was pleasantly surprised with both the service and value for money as i purchased an Amazon offer. We had a glass of Cava each, 8 Tapas ( all delicious and well presented) including desert. I loved the decor and ambiance which contributed to a memorable night. I'll definitely revisit!

We were pleasantly surprised to find this place in the middle of town. Great atmosphere and staff, delicious snacks. Had a good evening with son at S&A. He was impressed with guitar player and wants to learn to dance 'sevillanas'.

I went to S&A with 3 friends the other day and was very pleased that I did! The food was excellent, the venue was very cool and with the addition of a Taste card the bill was fantastic value for money. The service was a little slow and it took half the table waving at the waiter to get his attention but this was the only downside to an otherwise great experience. Needless to say I will definitely be going back and have already recommended friends to do the same.

I have now visited S&A Covent Garden on 3 occasions and I have to say each time I have left feeling happy and satisfied. The food as always is delicious, the staff always friendly and attentive. Our last visit 26/1/14 we tried a different cocktail "Jambria" and I have to say it was fabulous. The atmosphere here is relaxed and makes for a great time to spend with friends/family. Please note during the Happy hour, its only the main sangria jug thats reduced out of the three choices.

Really disappointing service I've visited Salvador and Amanda's many times, and although the food remains at an average standard, the service just seems to get worse and worse. On Saturday, when visiting with my husband, we felt that we were just a number, being pushed through as quickly as possible to free up our table for the next patron. A typical Covent Garden chain like mentality - just get them in, take their money, and get them out. We were seated in what can only be described as the staff walk way (it was 6.15, and it wasn't busy). Staff seemed to congregate here, standing around waiting for the next batch of customers to come in, just metres from our table. It felt like we were being observed! Orders we're taken without a single smile, food turned up in a flash, and before we'd even finished what was on the plates they were whisked away! Honestly, there was still good on my plate, and it was very obvious I was still eating - there's attentive, and over attentive! When I asked about an ingredient on one of the dishes, I was simply told 'it comes that way'. A real lack of understanding from the waitress. We weren't asked how our food was, if we wanted anything else, even if we wanted another drink. We seemed simply too much trouble. There was a real lack of atmosphere, and what used to be the draw to S&A is no more for me. It's a real shame. I can't say that my husband or I will be visiting or recommending S&A again, there's so many restaurants who actually want the business, and I really don't feel like S&A do.

Four of us spent a Tuesday evening here (Flamenco evening). The food was delicious and we were well looked after. There was a musician playing the guitar and a flamenco dancer while we ate which was lovely. We had amazon vouchers which helped with the cost. Would go again.

We had a Christmas party booking at Salvador & Amanda Covent Garden on Wednesday 17th December. We specifically booked a table on Wednesday night because we wanted to see a Flamenco show. When we arrived we were told there won't be any Flamenco show that night because it's Christmas time and it's very busy. This left us hugely disappointed. When we asked the manager why we were not informed about this earlier, she said an email was sent out to everyone regarding changes however we did not receive any emails or phone calls about it. We booked the table in October and there was plenty of time to inform us by a simple phone call to make sure we are aware of it! Furthermore the board in the bar area was clearly advertising shows on Tuesdays and Wednesdays! It left us really frustrated as it was our Christmas party that night and we wanted to have some entertainment. We are not coming back to Salvador & Amanda again!

Extremely disappointed! We were regularts but after this we are not going back. What hapened this place it used to be a favourite. Firstly upstairs we were greeted by a slightly obnoxious host; sat down and waited...then ordered from the bar all night. Service was poor as staff were busy with Christmas decorations and chatting. There was no entertainment that was advertised for that night.Got a smelly seafood tapas, no apology and a full blown service charge added. What a shame.

Great Night and Great Birthday celebration. The Food was really good and the service was fantastic! Our Waitress offered to do separate bills (my group was 15 people!) and didn't mind providing some bills in pairs. This really took the potential pain of splitting large bills out of the evening! Much Appreciated!

Great service and the booth we had was lovely a spacious for a group of six of us. Food was lovely, only criticism would be that the tuna steak tapas was very tough and my friend had to ask three times for a sharp knife. I would revisit S&A.

I celebrated my birthday there and it was amazing! The atmosphere and music was great, the food delicious, very friendly staff and really good cocktails! And the fact that is open till late made it perfect so I didn't have to be walking around London changing places. Very much recommended and I will be definitely coming back soon and often.

Nice atmosphere, but don't think "glamorous" flamenco dancing, think one woman and her guitarist! Food AWFUL! Thankfully we didn't pay £90 for the two of us but £36 via Amazon - still not worth it! Service OK.

Horrible and offensive - worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Saff were clueless and had no idea the difference between 'acorn fed jamon iberico' and 'serrano jamon' - I ordered the jamon iberico and was given the serrano but the waiter argued with me for 10 minutes that I was wrong. Appalling service and most of what we ordered we didn't receive. We stayed max 1 hour, couldn't wait to get out of the place. Do not go to this 'restaurant' if you actually know or like Spanish food! This is basically a bar serving very bad tapas!

Enjoyed a great night here with a group of 15 friends. Excellent service, food was delicious and affordable at £19.50 a head. We had the centre pod reserved which was lovely and nice to be near the dance floor. It does get busy from 10pm/11pm onwards but it had a good atmosphere. Only criticism - I don't like that they have a lady in the toilet with handwash and paper towels - so tacky! Other than that, I would happily recommend!

Amazing service. We were really lucky to get the circular main table for four. Really quick and polite, the house wine was surprisingly decent and with tastecard 50% off all food it was an absolute bargain! The food was mixed, however, I don't think I would have been as happy if I'd paid full price. The pork cheek braised in red wine with potato puree was delicious so would definitely recommend. Overall, would definitely visit again with friends. Be warned though, it's quite noisy.
