It was OK. Families were mixed with the hen parties which seemed odd. The waiting staff were OK bit not particularly warm. One spilled my drink and didn't replace it or really even acknowledge. Service was fairly speedy and the food OK to good. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 17 Jun 2017

We enjoyed our meal very much especially the dim sum which was delicious. The waiters were very efficient and helpful with the menu however the manager never carried out what he said he would do i.e i'll get you a,pencil to complete the menu choice and twice he took an order for drinks and they waited on the bar (we could see them) for what seemed a long time and said the delay was because the barman was overwhelmed!! The barman got them up on the bar really quickly. We had finished our meal before the last round appeared. He lacked concentration as far as we could see. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 07 Jun 2017

Usually great but new waitress meant that even after having a long chat when we ordered (as she had many questions) we waited for 30 mins after prawn crackers for our food to arrive and were then asked if we wanted the bill! We explained we hadn't had any food yet and she realised she hadn't put the order in. It then took ages for food to arrive and the rice came first followed by dim sum around 20 mins later by which time we weren't even hungry anymore as had gone past it. Shouldn't be hard when just ordering 2 ping pong set menus. A shame as usually very good. No apology really offered and ruined a good meal. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 06 Jun 2017

Food and drink was ok but the service was not good. It took a long time for someone to come up and ask for order. The staff was totally confused and brought someone else's order to our twice. Then when I asked for bill, they took it to the wrong table. Also, food on our set menu arrived haphazardly. Not impressed with service at all. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 03 Jun 2017

Service was hit and miss. The lady that showed us to our table brought us to the worst table in the restaurant (prob cos we were using love theatre vouchers) -far in the basement next to the toilets when there were loads of other free tables. We were served by about 5 different waitresses during our visit and it was all a bit confusing. Food was lovely though visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 27 May 2017

surprisingly empty for the time of day (was there 12-2pm) but the service was good, the food was good and both I and my guest enjoyed it. Marked down slightly because the atmosphere was not great in a quiet restaurant for me and the staff had it easy because there were so few people there (a little harsh from me I guess!). Waiter was amazing, he was very kind polite and attentive. the food was really good although quite plain. the area was quite crowded, the pingpong in southbank is a lot more spacious, we kind of had to balance our bags and dim sum on the table.. and it was quite dark! but service was amazing and the food was good so cannot complain. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 10 May 2017

Did the lazy sundays brunch offer. We absolutely went to town and probably ordered about 35 dishes!! It was all pretty tasty and service was very friendly and attentive. If you want a brunch with a difference and one that will fill you up with dumplings for days then this is a great shout! We didn't go for bottomless bellinis - just had some of the lovely lemonade with fruit puree. nick09 visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 07 May 2017

Booking a table was quite easy, saff were very helpful however the food was a let down (partially) this time. Ping pong had the best sauce to go with broccoli and some great fried squid, the sauce has been changed and the squid is no longer on the menu, quite disappointing as these were our favourites. Everything else was still quite good. Bring the old menu back!!! visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 05 May 2017

Delicious food, friendly, helpful staff. Lovely experience. The reason for 4 stars is that all of us in the group felt that the food kept arriving too fast without a break. The food was really lovely and the advise of 4-5 dishes per person was perfect for us. We asked if we could order a few bits then order again a bit later so that we could try the food and decide what we liked. The waitress said this was absolutely fine but in reality it seemed to cause a lot of confusion on the tick sheet and a lot of the dishes where forgotten about. The waitress was keen to take plates away when they were only half eaten and struggled to understand us. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 22 Apr 2017

I had a good time here. The food was great as usual. However I'm not sure if there's some kind of a management scam as the bill showed everything we order separately then gave a discount of 40.99 listing this as 1 lazysum day then there was a management discount of £8. The bill was as expected but I found it weird how the bill didn't just say 2 X lazysum days. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 16 Apr 2017

Service slow, staff had to be reminded about drinks. My food order was brought to the table and the waitress told me they had gotten it wrong and it was taken it back to the kitchen. Slowest service we have ever received at a Ping Pong. The waiter took our order but didn't put it onto the system, this was only realised when the two tables either side of us who had ordered later were having their food arrive. Waiter ran off with our order again, told us it had not been put on the system the first time but didn't actually apologise. Got a drink from the bar on arrival but were never offered another drink even though we sat for most of the time with empty glasses. Wont be returning to this branch. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 15 Apr 2017

I've been going to ping pong for a long time but this visits shows this restaurant is not yet ready for customers - it took 20 minutes and some persistence to order a drink - the second drink order took so long that we had finished the food and cancelled it - the staff were nice - but there needed to be more of them - it's unfair to them and your customers to run things so cheaply and badly visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 12 Apr 2017

This was my second time going to ping pong but my first time at this location. I thought the music was a little too loud; it was hard to hear other people talk to me. This is minor but there wasn't a pen on the table or on any of the tables next to us. The food was delicious and most of it came out quickly, but long after we had finished our food my chicken skewers and my drink still hadn't arrived. Over the course of at least 45 minutes we asked the server if the appetizer and drink were coming soon at least four times. By the way we ordered these at the same time as the rest of the food. I don't mind waiting ten minutes or so but in the end, I got my drink about 35+ after my whole table had finished all of our food and I got my appetizer another 15+ minutes later (by which point I had finished my drink as well). Again, I loved the food, but the server was extremely unhelpful and clearly forgot those items. When we got the receipt the appetizer and my drink were the last items on the receipt (they were clearly added later). The server never apologized or gave a reason for the delay. The experience was a little disappointing visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 09 Apr 2017

Booked Ping Pong for a small birthday meal and everything went perfectly. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and looked after us. Overall the evening was good. The staff in the bar were accommodating as my party was running late. We went for the way as much as you like which was fab. Only criticism was that we asked 3 different staff for forks which never came and also had to ask for the bill 3 times before we got it. It wasn't really busy so lack of attention was a bit disappointing. However I would go back but to another branch. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 02 Apr 2017

The food was really good but the service was unfortunately really poor. The ordering system seemed to confuse even the waiters. The paper we used to order the food was taken away and brought back multiple times and also the waiters did ticks and circles all over it. To me that was unprofessional and made our interactions with the waiters annoying. Our food took a long time to arrive and two plates were cold when they finally came. We also tried to order sweet chilli sauce which wasn't on the menu but came as part of three dipping sauces. The waiter looked baffled and responded that it wasn't possible as 'the food comes from the kitchen'. I think the staff need better training and less focus on being an ultra modern technical restaurant. The food and venue are very nice so that's where the improvement needs to be. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 02 Apr 2017

We had a brilliant lunch at Ping Pong, Covent Garden. The service was great, very friendly and helpful and the food was amazing and so reasonably priced. I had the Ping Pong set meal which was such good value at £13 and tasted fantastic, steamed and fried dimsum with a rice dish - I couldn't finish it but it was so good. We all said how good the food was, particularly given that it's not horrendously expensive. The lychee & roses cocktail I had was beautiful, in its vintage champagne glass with a dried rosebud. We were a group of 7 with requirements for wheelchair access, but none of this was a problem for the staff at Ping Pong - no delay waiting for food on account of us being a larger group and the manager was very helpful finding us a table which would suit our requirements. Thank you for a stress-free dining experience and a great afternoon. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 25 Mar 2017

5th visit to Ping Pong but disappointing this time as coming to end of their winter menu so were short on many dishes. " A wonderful new menu starts next week" the waitress tells us - not a great help when we are there at the end of the old one! The vegetarian spring rolls were particularly dry and the ribs had that warmed up taste. Otherwise the food was good and the service efficient. The tables are so close together though that I feel I could join in our neighbours conversation. Still, will go no doubt go back to try the wonderful new menu! visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 24 Mar 2017

Any restaurant in their right mind would have been perfectly justified in turning us away, but the staff at Ping Pong Covent Garden were accommodating, knowledgeable, patient (extremely so!) and friendly. I cannot rate the staff highly enough. And the food was good too! visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 21 Mar 2017

Food was fabulous unfortunately service was dreadful - such a shame as the one in Westfield is fantastic ! On the evening at Covent Garden our Waiter spilt drink on one member of party, and then some sticky sauce on another - asked for wet wipes but was told they had none. Ordered speciality tea, tea bag and glass were delivered but no sign of hot water - eventually arrived after 8 minutes !! Would never come to this one again visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 16 Mar 2017

Food and service was both excellent. We had luggage with us, and they happily looked after it for us. The seasonal specials were really good, and the cocktails superb. Food was hot, and service was slick. Good location for us also near Covent Garden. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 18 Mar 2017

The food was excellent as usual however my one criticism about the Covent Garden Ping Pong would be that the tables are FAR too close together. My boyfriend and I went pre-theatre & we were practically sat on the same table as another couple so we couldn't fully relax and have a proper conversation. This would be my only critisism as the staff were amazing and very friendly! visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 17 Mar 2017

The staff were very friendly and the food was pretty good, but in this restaurant you are packed in like sardines. Seems ridiculous that you have to ask people at a neighbouring table to move their table over every time someone wants to stand up. Too much value put on getting as many customers in as possible and not enough on customer comfort. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 05 Mar 2017

Compared with St Paul branch, let me highlight that both the staff and food were less impressive. The staff was too busy to properly take care of small things, like bringing a coat to the wardrobe, or delivering the food at the same time. Chicken skewers extremely fatty. Overall acceptable, but I would not recommend to a friend visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 11 Feb 2017

Great food, some was a little cold, nice atmosphere. The ordering system of the slips of paper doesnt work too well with large groups (4+) if you go I would reccomend asking for multiple sheets, We had a group of 7 so had 4 people on one sheet 3 on the other and it worked better. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 17 Feb 2017

The dumplings were good... We booked online which came with two free cocktails, you don't get a choice and they tasted like soap. We ordered the set meal for 2 which is more than double the price of the set meal for one but the quantities were confusing. The food arrived served in 3's, 3 spring rolls, 3 dumplings, but the meal was for 2, it didn't feel like good value for money. Had the food been special in flavour it would have trumped the odd portions but it wasn't, it didn't taste fresh. Then there was the paying, the restaurant offers a student discount so we showed our id's but were told that because we had free drinks with our booking we couldn't have it. They then suggested that we could have the discount but only if we paid for the free drinks.... It was valentines day and it just felt like Ping Pong wanted to trick us every step of the way. Hook us in with free drinks, offer odd portions of ok food and then disappoint all for £40. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 14 Feb 2017

Ordered 1 squid which came cold. The waiter did well and changed it quickly. However, she tried to deceive us with the bill, came up to us and said she'd knocked the price of the squid off as a gesture of goodwill. But the bill said 2 lots of squid has been purchased. When I brought this up with the waiter she said that there was actually no discount. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 14 Feb 2017

Nice food, but service, seating and table planning really poor. Despite having reserved, the waitress led us past several available tables for 2 on the ground floor to take us down into the basement. When I asked if we could have one of the vacant tables for two on the ground floor (hate not having windows) - I received a load of blarney ("big parties expected" - but it's an isolated table for 2? - "they are taken" - but they are vacant etc. etc.) Then they resentfully put me and my 13 yr old daughter on what was essentially a table for 4 with a couple who were already sat down on the other two seats trying to have a romantic dinner. they were nice people but I, and clearly they also felt we were encroaching. Meanwhile the tables for two remained unoccupied and I saw several people go through the same experience as us. when you come to order there is a gimmicky system of ticking a paper menu. Don't think you can get round this by just asking the waitress - you'll be given short shrift to fill in the paper tick boxes on the menu. Not big deal but really...? If its so important is it that hard for the waitress to do it on your behalf. So in short - if you like good food and don't mind staff who don't give a damn what the customer wants, or who like to run the place their way and expect the customer to fit in with their preferences then this is the place for you. visited Ping Pong Covent Garden on 11 Feb 2017
