Our Review Of The Alchemist London

It's no secret that Londoners love a good cocktail, but sometimes the classics just don't cut it. That's where The Alchemist comes in, a stylish bar that's known for its theatrical but affordable drinks. Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting their Monument outpost for a team Christmas party, and were able to check out their unique sips for ourselves.

Menu Highlights

Food⭐⭐⭐⭐

Drink: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Lightbulb Moment (£13.50) - a quirky concoction that arrived smoking and in a lightbulb-shaped container, which made for a an interesting pour into the glass. It combined gin with Pimm's and artisan ginger beer, with a slightly spiced flavour to it.
  • Honeypot Picante (£14) - like something straight out of Winnie the Pooh, this bold, boozy drink came with a hardened layer of honey over the top, that had to be cracked to enter the mezcal-heavy liquid.
  • The Espresso Martini (£14) - an elevated version of the classic, served with salted caramel, a chocolate spoon and even a 'caramel caviar' - perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth.
  • Octopus Platter (£90) - perfect for sharing among large groups, these eight-person feasts featured a selection of scrumptious Asian-inspired bites, from buttermilk fried chicken to edamame, vegetable gyoza and hot honey bites.

Our Overall Experience At The Alchemist

DesignMyNight Review Out Of 5: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was an excellent spot for hosting a Christmas party, thanks to the ample private space, sharing platters and drinks that got everyone talking. The Alchemist cocktail menu really has got something for everyone, with drinks categorised in different sections so that you know what you're getting. It's a very affordable choice for Central London too, with many tipples coming in at less than £14.
