This was a wonderful evening of music by Peter Maxwell Davies with marvellous performance by members of Ensemble Perpetuo. I have always been a fan of Max's music, especially the early, ground-breaking iconoclastic works such as 'Eight songs for a mad king', 'Worldes Blis', etc., etc. so I was somewhat surprised to hear a number of very pleasantly melodious pieces. I knew Max could write pastiche but these were new and enjoyable revelations. On the downside, the room was cold and the lack of food was disappointing; also, I am not sure that two intervals were required - one would have been enough for me. Maybe the performers needed some tine off! A great evening by a great ensemble. Paul Adrian visited The Forge on 28 Nov 2016

A gem of an evening presenting the music of Peter Maxwell Davies of whom I wanted to know more. Excellently played by the Ensemble Perpetuo, James Turnbull, oboe of particular note. The downside being that the venue was VERY cold. Jane visited The Forge on 28 Nov 2016

A beautiful programme of music, full of little gems and all mostly unknown to a wider audience. It was expertly played by the brilliant Ensemble Perpetuo, who were obviously enjoying playing the notes as much as we enjoyed listening to them. Pete visited The Forge on 28 Nov 2016
