Illasoul's 6th installment of its 'In Real Time Takeover Series' see Maddy Coombs & Friends take to our living room stage. With a Rudi Creswick solo set, this one's due to be a night of wonderful jazz, fusion and hip-hop music.
About Maddy Coombs
Maddy Coombs is a young up-and-coming tenor saxophonist from Northampton and is currently in her third year at the Guildhall School.
She has played alongside Judi Jackson, Soweto Kinch and Mark Kavuma, as well as having performed her own music at venues including, We Out Here Festival and Pizza Express Jazz Club.
Her own music draws inspiration from many artists including Joe Henderson, John Coltrane, Melissa Aldana and Joel Ross, amongst others, and her and her band will be playing a set of standards and original music.
About Rudi Creswick
An in-demand bass player, this North East talent has worked extensively with a host of Clash favourites, ranging from Tom Misch and Loyle Carner through to Jorja Smith, Berwyn, Poppy Ajudha, and Puma Blue.
Along the way, he’s also been sculpting music of his own, matching low-end fixations to an open-minded production technique. Re-tooling club tropes for his own vivid constructions, Rudi Creswick cites hip-hop greats such as J Dilla and Madlib as key studio touchstones, while there’s also a sharply defined sense of soul in his work.
