Description

Tucked into the lower end of Slater Street in Liverpool's vibrant Ropewalks district, Durty Nelly's is a compact, characterful Irish bar that punches well above its size. Housed in a handsome period building — the striking St Andrew's Building — the exterior alone sets expectations high, and the interior more than delivers.

Inside, the space is cosy rather than cavernous: a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, with vintage advertising enamels and traditional Irish bric-a-brac covering the walls, and big screens positioned throughout for sport. The seating is well thought out for a pub of its footprint, with options spread across the bar that suit everything from a couple catching up over pints to a small group settling in for the evening.

The drinks offer is straightforward and well-executed, with a solid draught selection including Madri and Carling, priced competitively for the area. The programming leans into live music, DJs, and karaoke, with named acts performing late into the night on weekends — the bar's Instagram regularly features live sets running from 10pm through to midnight and beyond. Sport is well covered across the screens, and the late licence (until 3am on Wednesdays through Saturdays) makes it a natural last stop on a Ropewalks night out.
