The Pug & Greyhound is a traditional pub found on the southern fringes of Leicester. Fronting an excellent choice of beer, a beautiful garden, a menu of hearty comfort food and a lovely private dining room, this place stands for the charm and traditions of a Great British pub.

Serving everything from continental breakfasts to stone-baked pizzas, seafood dishes to proper Sunday roasts, it makes sense to come on an empty stomach. The booze game is equally strong, and the venue offers 7 rooms for overnight stays if you fancy lingering until close and don’t want the stress of booking a cab.

A hotly contested Pub Quiz night runs on Monday, you can get two fish suppers for £15 on Wednesday and the upper level dining room can be hired for private bespoke parties at this popular Leicester pub.

Great services, some of the roast dinner felt like it had been warmed up! but all in all a good visit! visited The Pug & Greyhound on 17 Sep 2017

Great meal & service. The tapas starters were v tasty, as was the chicken burger. The only let down were the sweet potato fries which were not crunchy and had a little too much fat / oil. Thank you visited The Pug & Greyhound on 16 Sep 2017

Sunday lunch menu only available which provided an absolutely dreadful vegetarian mushroom Wellington which was soggy pastry with a slither of mushroom and spinach. The starters had no vegetarian option. The puddings were laughable. Staff were nice though lyndsay visited The Pug & Greyhound on 13 Aug 2017

I wanted to say a big thank you to the team at pug and greyhound, they were very helpful in providing a place for me to celebrate my birthday at the last minute due to the weather taking a turn for the worse. There were 25 of us, the food was good, the staff were attentive and I have no doubt that I will be back as will some of the people that joined me hopefully next time I get to use the beer garden! visited The Pug & Greyhound on 05 Aug 2017

The food was delicious, but on this occasion, the service wasn't quite up to the usual standard. When our party arrived, the tables hadn't been placed ready for us, although I had booked for our group over a week beforehand and we arrived precisely at our booked time. We had to wait an astonishing 1 hour 15 minutes for our starters which isn't acceptable. We had to order the wine twice as the first order was forgotten. Also, despite the fact that most of our table clearly requested no ice in their soft drinks, all the drinks arrived with ice....not rocket science to get such a simple request correct. It was a pleasant evening, with very good food and all staff were polite and obliging, but I was a little disappointed that these issues occurred as it was a special occasion for our group. visited The Pug & Greyhound on 24 Jun 2017

Having booked the private dining room previously for a family occasion and having brilliant service and food our expectations were quite high. Unfortunately this time did not live up to this. We booked in for sunday at 5.30 and an already limited menu was reduced further by having run out of many items. The veg on the Sunday lunches had obviously been stretched over several portions as it was very meagre. The food was just ok and we were pretty much left alone with the waitress checking on us and taking drinks orders very occasionally. Having raved to all our friends about how great our last visit was were a little disappointed as the private dining room is a great selling point. We just felt like a bit of an afterthought rather than special guests this time. visited The Pug & Greyhound on 30 Apr 2017

Service much improved over the months.. food lovely and hot. Only disappointment was the rhubarb & custard ice cream . Just tasted of vanilla. But I'm sure that can be sorted. Certainly won't stop a revisit. Thank you 👍 visited The Pug & Greyhound on 06 May 2017

Lovely staff and atmosphere. Great sticky toffee pudding! But I feel the food was a tad over priced for what it was. visited The Pug & Greyhound on 05 May 2017

The slow cooked beef brisket was delicious but the things it came with were a weird combination - honey and mustard coleslaw and onion rings?! I would have preferred some mashed potato and veg. You seemed to serve coleslaw and onion rings with most things. The restaurant was nice and cosy if a little bit dark. The service was excellent visited The Pug & Greyhound on 29 Apr 2017

The pub is lovely and we were put in a room upstairs which was great for a big party, the staff are very friendly and very helpful but the food and drink took a very long time and when you have small children it was not easy, it would have been better if there was a proper play area outside for them to keep them occupies whilst waiting we did have to wait nearly an hour for the first course visited The Pug & Greyhound on 02 Apr 2017

All was very enjoyable and the staff were all very cheerfull and helpful. The only issue was the pudding, the ceoliac in the party had ordered a pudding which we were told was gluten free, before I put the preorders in, and I added a note to his order that he was gluten free but despite this they served him abdessert that was not gluten free. Luckily we checked before he started eating the desert as it looked to contain biscuit. However this did cause a worry / concern for the rest of day as we were worried something else he was given might not have been gluten free so we were waiting to see if he was going to be ill. He was not ill but it was a worry we could have done with out. visited The Pug & Greyhound on 25 Dec 2016

We came on Sunday for a family Christmas lunch and I just wanted to say what a great time we all had. There were 25 of us, ranging from 4 to 86 years old and both the food and service were fantastic! We had pre-ordered our food and the tables were all set out ready for us, with Santa hats for everyone. I know it can be a challenge with a large party, in getting the food all out together, but the waiting staff were brilliant – everything came out on time, piping hot and with plenty of veg and potatoes for everyone. In fact, the only complaint any member of our party had was that they were too full! I would like to say a huge thank you to the bar staff, waitresses and chefs at the Pug and Greyhound for looking after us so well and making our annual family Christmas gathering one to remember. I’m sure each and every one of us will return, during the coming year, to dine here again. visited The Pug & Greyhound on 18 Dec 2016

Great food, good service, but the seated area was too noisy> Our group of 6 couldn't hear each other which was pretty disappointing given the room was nearly empty - probably caused by the acoustics and bare furnishings. Not quite clear on the point of pre-ordering food online only to find that some of it wasn't available! Generally a good experience but the noise was an issue in the dining room area. Your Leamington pub is fantastic in every respect by the way. visited The Pug & Greyhound on 04 Dec 2016

The restaurant area was much improved since our last visit a few years ago. However the food combinations were not great...lamb shank , mashed potatoes and salad! The meals were just not presented well and looked very boring. Didn't really like the Jammy Dodger with the coffee or the wine gums with the bill. Perhaps trying a bit too hard to be different! Service was very good though. visited The Pug & Greyhound on 30 Nov 2016
