You've never noticed this bar before, you say? You've crawled into many a pub on Call Lane and never found this one, huh? Don't worry, you're not going mad. This bar is a prohibition style speakeasy, ie it's pretty darn difficult to find. With no signs to mark its existence and a hidden staircase behind closed doors, this decadent den is the perfect escape from those testing troubles. Drink in this hideaway, safe in the knowledge that no one can find you.
The cocktails at The Maven are masterpieces, each drink lovingly garnished with petals, greenery or even served in tea-cups. Order a 'brew' of The English Garden between two of you, served in a teapot, containing Hendricks gin, St Germain elderflower liqueur, cloudy apple juice, lemon juice, gomme, mint and cucumber. Refreshing, delicious and cunningly disguised in true British style, it's well worth its £25 price tag.
Top this off with a stylish interior, decorated with calming hues of blues and creams, wooden flooring and plush leather seats and you have the perfect hidey-hole for your guzzling needs. Just remember - keep this happy haven to yourself.
