Curler's Rest is a cracking gastro pub in Glasgow's West End. Once a ramshackled student favourite known simply as Curler's, a £500,000 makeover later and this 600 year old building is now a posh pub with cosy, rustic decor. A big roaring stone fire with comfy leather couches around it, beer hall style benches for groups, a long bar with old style tiles, and lots of warm tones and homely features.
While the pub of yore is still lamented by many a Glasgow graduate, the spruced version is a popular haunt with young professionals, foodies and beer fans. A great selection of brews includes 25 beers and real ales on tap as well as a lengthy choice of wines, ciders and spirits. Pub grub is something of a fine art here, with seasonal specials changing daily. Hearty highlights include a pork & chorizo burger, ox cheek & red wine pie and cider & tarragon battered cod. Blinding brunch and lunch menus on weekends (along with live sport, board games and papers) make this a great spot to nestle in for the day.
