The Art School

Amidst the changing cultural landscape of Glasgow, The Art School has maintained a creative presence since the 1930s. A unique, artist-led centre for music, fine art, performance and events, some of the biggest international acts, and those in the first stages of individual experimentation, have found their art represented and nurtured by the venue. From wall-shaking club nights to esoteric film clubs, all proceeds from The Art School are plumbed back in to exhibitions, projects and societies, as well as a share going to their venue's programming fund to support emerging artists and events.

Formerly the University print studio, The Art School's on-site eating and drinking destination, the Vic Bar & Café has become one of the best equipped contemporary dining spaces in Glasgow. Serving up a delicious and affordable selection of vegan and vegetarian-friendly food from across the globe, you'll find everything from handmade pizzas and burgers, to adventurous Asian offerings along with dishes inspired by the eatery's Scottish and Italian heritage. The bar too stocks an international selection of spirits and beers from local breweries.

As well as a very popular Saturday brunch, The Art School serves a wide range of street food from around the globe. Smoked brisket sandwiches rub shoulders with eggs in a coconut masala, burgers, pizzas, crisp Vietnamese salads and South African bunny chow curries. Vegetarians are well catered for with everything from a veggie cooked breakfast to tandoori halloumi burgers, veggie steamed yum buns and pickled vegetable salads. An international spirits selection; good cocktail choice and beers from local breweries such as West and William Brothers add to The Vic’s appeal.
