Description

Roll up for cocktails and cabaret at Riding Room, Glasgow's home of all things raucous and rambunctious. The vibrant Merchant City bar is home to an eclectic roster of entertainment, from burlesque and cabaret shows, to magicians and musicians. With on-stage frolics, and a late bar, seven nights a week, Riding Room is buzzing every evening. As a gay-friendly venue, Riding Room attracts blend of Glasgow's LGBT community, as well as those simply in to enjoy the show.

Decor in the bar is a little haphazard, with butcher shop tiles and exposed brick alongside gilded mirrors and Chesterfield seating. Private gated or curtained booths, with their own service bells, hark to a speakeasy vibe. In keeping with the debaucherous tone, a positively toxic drinks menu also nods to the prohibition era with talk of bootleg liquor and moonshine. Alongside a range of creative cocktails, (served in everything from tin cans to old bottles), is access to the most potent drinks cabinet in town, complete with absinthe and overproof rum. A  fun, quirky, flamboyant bar with the atmosphere to match, Riding Room is the perfect venue if you're looking for something a little different in Glasgow.

Visited the Riding Room as recommended by a friend, I wont be returning any time soon !! It was 8pm last Saturday ,23rd December. Its wasn't busy but there was only 1 bar staff serving, people were waiting at the bar, patiently. Eventually another bar staff arrived and instead of seeing who was next to be served decided to serve someone he knew !! When I did get served ( about 20 minutes ) I was told the lager my friend wanted was off ! As a gay man who supports all the gay venues in Glasgow I was very disappointed with this venue. I only hope that the G1 group don't have an ageist policy as that was the impression I got that evening. I welcome your comments

Only issue here with Riding Room is that the booking for a booth specifically say no hen or stag parties 😩 Not a reflection on the riding rooms but this site which is promoting as a good place for a hen??

Was at a birthday party here this weekend. It's the bar just above polo and they'd reserved a private area. It's a really lovely venue and the decor is really plush and luxurious. It feels a bit like a big, gay french castle. Drinks were quite expensive but the staff were great.

I came here for my birthday on a complete whim, and it ended up being one of the best nights out I've had in Glasgow! The haphazard decor really sets the tone for the show; very intriguing and nothing like I have seen before. Everyone was there; tourists, locals and even their mammies were there. Drinks were also very cheap that night too! As someone who isn't a big party goer, the mood was vibrant but just right! Not a place for all but I highly recommend visiting! I'm hooked!

I do not rate this place at all. I spent my birthday weekend in Glasgow and I travelled all the way from Sydney Australia. I read lots of reviews and this was the one place I wanted to check out to see the comparison to the small hidden quirky bars we have in Sydney. When we got there the security told me we are not taking any more. I asked in a polite manner can I ask why, he said "we only want regulars". Considering I travelled from the other side of the world this is unbelievably rude! I was in shock! Specially as we were 3 girls and were not rough! It was a disgrace and a total bad image to you establishment.

The teapot cocktails are amazing and a really quirky touch.

Intended to come here with a friend for a couple of their potent cocktails and ended up staying until 2am! Totally unexpected - just what we like!

Don't go here if you've somewhere to be in the morning! Ive had many a wild night in the Joint on the Corner, such a fun spot, great performers, and even greater barmen!!!
