Brel

Description

Brel is a cool, stylish and fun restaurant and bar on Ashton Lane, famed for its fantastic food and cracking beer garden. Following a £300,000 pound revamp, Brel's new look combines the original charm of exposed brick and cosy feel (Brel was originally a stable and coach house), but with fresh additions of bright colours, warm stoves and twinking fairy lights for added atmosphere. Retaining the nod to Belgium from the bar's originial guise, the ever-popular moules are a stand out on the menu along with new dishes like the "Benny" egg selection, baked cheeses (can we get a nom?!) as well as delicious burgers and innovative and classic mains. Desserts include an incredible chocolate fondue or a mouth-watering pecan pie with salted caramel ice cream. From the bar, wine, spirits and cocktails are joined by an ample selection of brews from Belgium and beyond.

With outdoor seating onto a bustling Ashton Lane, and a beautiful garden out back for some seriously chilled chugging, (complete the beautifully-lit canopy of trees) there are few better, or busier, beer gardens in Glasgow on a sunny day. As for the other 360 days of the year, Brel's warm, rustic interior will keep you there until late whether you're eating in the restaurant, drinking in the conservatory, or hosting a private party in the mezzanine. Brel is a Glasgow bar with heaps of character and a more laid back vibe than many of its Ashton Lane neighbours. The crowd is friendly and informal, much like the ever-attentive staff. Good eats, good beers, good times, there's a reason Brel is one of the stalwarts of Glasgow nightlife.
