Kanpai

Kanpai is a Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh.

The restaurant is named after the Japanese way of toasting and literally means ‘bottoms up’. Split across two floors, the restaurant is a contemporary venue, with calm browns, portraits on the walls and a long wooden-brick bar.

Their menu is focused on traditional Japanese cuisine, with a  very strong selection of sushi, from hand rolled treats to nigiri and maki.  There’s also tempura, teppan, and classic dishes like dumplings, miso soup and spring rolls. For drinks, there’s a variety of Japanese whisky (Shochu) as well as sake, beer and wine.
