Description
Lochrin Rooftop Bar, perched atop the Moxy Hotel in Edinburgh’s Fountainbridge district, is a stylish new addition to the city’s vibrant bar scene. With its moody, candlelit interior dressed in deep green and red hues, Lochrin evokes the charm of a speakeasy gentleman’s club.
The bar’s design pays homage to the area’s industrial heritage, named after the historic Lochrin gin distillery founded by James Haig in 1780. Guests are welcomed into an opulent yet cosy atmosphere, with plush seating and a warm ambiance that transitions seamlessly to a heated outdoor terrace offering panoramic views of Edinburgh Castle and the Pentland Hills.
The bar has quickly made its mark, winning the Molinari Hotel Bar of the Year at the 2024 Scottish Bar and Pub Awards. Under the direction of Regional Operations Director Wayne Androliakos, Lochrin has curated a menu of specialty cocktails that celebrate Edinburgh’s rich history, complemented by small plates and sharing boards featuring meats, cheeses, and tapas-style bites.
The drinks list is extensive, showcasing rare Scotch whiskies, local gins, craft beers, and fine wines. Weekends bring a lively twist with live performances from local talent and screenings of classic Scottish films on a built-in cinema screen, making Lochrin not just a bar, but a cultural experience.
