London, U.K., (January 7, 2013) – Sunday the 26th of January is Australia Day and commemorates the arrival of the British First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788. Join the Humble Grape for belated celebrations of this historic day: a homage to the Australian wine heritage, particularly to the French expat Jacques Lurton and his venture in Kangaroo Island and the native First Drop Wines from Barossa Valley to name but a few.

THE WINE

For a £45 ticket, guests will be treated to 6 premium Australian wines from the cream of Aussie artisan producers: Jacques Lurton Islander Estate (Kangaroo Island), First Drop Wines (Barossa Valley & Mclaren Vale) and Carter Marybrook (Margaret River) accompanied by fine pairing. 2 whites and 4 reds- there will be something for everyone to indulge on, journeying through Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and some less known varieties...

THE FOOD

Wine naturally pairs with food and it has been proved that matching the two enhance wine’s flavours! This is why together with an insight into the 6 stunning hand-crafted wines, we’ll also serve a selection of delicious cheese, Iberico Jamon, chorizo, marcona almonds, olives, artisan bread, and wonderfully aromatic olive oil from Salamanca, Spain, to nibble on along the way.

THE EVENING

Our resident Australian winemaker Cameron (ex Innocent Bystander/Giant Steps, Yarra Valley) and the rest of the team will also be on hand to guide you through the beautiful wines. At Humble grape we learn by tasting in a relaxed and unpretentious environment. Ask us any questions you like!

At the end of the evening you will also be able to purchase our hand-crafted wines from £16 to £40 per bottle for the next day delivery. What’s not to like?

THE PEOPLE

Meeting wine lovers is hard.

Network and share your passion for wine and food within our small community of aficionados. A superb mix of professionals from all backgrounds and industries, novices and wine enthusiasts alike.

The event will take place at The Haciendas Club on the banks of the Thames (Broken Wharf) from 6:30pm to 9pm on Thursday 30th of January 2014.

Humble Grape is a independent wine merchant and tasting group importing artisan wines from smaller family-owned growers in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Australia. Wine tasting from a whole new perspective: our evenings are a fun way to learn more about wine by tasting and networking with a vibrant community of city professionals.

We organise monthly themed wine tastings and bimonthly winemakers dinners where we have our producers from Europe dining with us in exclusive venues around London to share with you the secrets of their trade.

Our next event is Rhone Valley Tasting featuring Chàteauneuf-du-Pape wines on 19th February 2014.
