Ragu

Description

Ragu is one of Wapping Wharf’s brightest stars, tucked inside a repurposed shipping container but delivering far more warmth and charm than its industrial shell suggests. This intimate Italian spot is all about simple, seasonal cooking and generous hospitality, with a menu built around sharing plates, handmade pasta and beautifully sourced ingredients.

It’s the second venture from husband‑and‑wife team Mark and Karen Chapman, who also run neighbourhood favourite COR, and their focus on thoughtful cooking and relaxed conviviality has earned Ragu a loyal following. The restaurant’s compact size only adds to its appeal, making it feel cosy, cool and unmistakably Bristolian in spirit.

The kitchen champions Italian regional traditions with a modern, Bristol twist – expect pillowy focaccia with confit garlic, deeply flavoured ragùs, creative tiramisus and plates of fish or meat kissed by open fire. Ragu’s dedication to flavour and value has not gone unnoticed: it was awarded a prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand, celebrating its exceptional cooking at accessible prices and securing its place among the city’s most exciting dining destinations.
