BOX-E

Description

BOX-E is one of Bristol’s most intimate dining spots, tucked into a pair of converted shipping containers at Wapping Wharf’s Cargo 1 development. With just 14 seats inside and a terrace that expands the space in warmer months, it’s the sort of place where you can practically feel the buzz from the kitchen. Chef Elliot Lidstone and his wife Tessa run the show, with Elliot crafting boldly flavoured, modern British dishes and Tessa leading warm, knowledgeable service that makes the whole experience feel delightfully personal. BOX-E has earned itself a Michelin Bib Gourmand and two AA Rosettes, cementing its reputation for high-quality cooking that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

The menu leans into seasonal produce, keeping things fresh, unfussy and full of character. Expect generous plates that punch well above their weight, like soy‑glazed onglet or a silky panna cotta, each dish refined without sacrificing comfort. Elliot’s culinary pedigree shines through too, having been shortlisted for Chef to Watch at the National Restaurant Awards, and previously earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand at the Empress in Hackney before bringing his talents back to the West Country.
