Opens

Summer 2018

What they say:

While a few years ago Sherry was reserved exclusively for your Nan or at a house party when everything was gone, it’s now rose back through the ranks of the country’s favourite drinks. Part of the reason for that is places like Bar 44, who have been making waves in Wales and are now setting up shop in the site of a former bank. They’ll be serving over 20 different sherries, picked by co-owner Owen Morgan, one of the only sherry educators in the country.

What we say:

It’s not all about the sherry, though, with a fully Spanish drinks list accompanying it filled with gin tonicas (Spanish twist on the gin and tonic), as well as other wines from around the country. Meanwhile, the food menu focuses on seasonal Spanish dishes, such as Cordero, which is overnight braised lamb neck, chickpea puree, crispy onion and salsa verde, as well as Monkfish cheek, with spiced carrot, roast heritage carrot and almond. They're also open for families, with a children's tapas menu.
