I love the concept of Cocktail Weekend!!! It was sooo funn!! And the weather we had was so lovely! I really enjoyed it! I’m happy that my friend has asked me to go with her, otherwise I would have never known about this really [I don’t live in Birmingham]. Cocktails these days without the happy hour is at least £8-£11, so having the wristband, it would be £4 for the signature cocktail. The wristband and the guide book was sooo cool!! But I did break my wristband as soon as I tried it on, as I wanted to make it tighter, in case it will fall off without me noticing. But hey ho, I will keep the wristband for memory! My first year doing Cocktail Weekend! It was sooooo fun!!! I actually do love exploring different places to eat / drink and of course I do love my cocktails! So this was definitely a good excuse to venture around and explore different places and unknown bars and checking out different taste to the cocktails!! During the 3 days that Cocktail Weekend held, I could only go in the evening’s. So just managed to visit at least 3 bars a night, which was fairly reasonable. At least I and friend got to check out our high priorities venues, which was a bonus!! Like many people who has posted, the guide book could have at least mentioned what were the signature cocktails for each venue along with a description. But I guess it does give that mystery feel and makes you wanna check out the venue if haven’t done so. I would like to suggest next year, it would be great if it states what time the bar’s stop taking orders…rather than what time the bar’s closes. As there was a few bar’s that we went into and it was still open, but they wouldn’t serve us…as they have stopped serving which was a really disappointment. Especially when we have planned out beforehand what time each bar closes and tried to check out those first. I really love the free events that were being hosted, I could only managed to fit in the gin tasting at Jeckyll & Hyde on the Friday evening. It was sooo funn! I’m not a gin drinker, but it was an experience and it was great to check it out and hey, it’s free! I wanted to make the most of the wristband! If you love venturing around and finding out new places and love drinking cocktail, this is an event for you!!! I’m looking forward to next year now!!! Hopefully next year will get to try check out most of the venues!

Really enjoyed BCW this year. Went last year too and both times its been good fun, so I'm definitely going next year. Highlights were the tastings/masterclasses, some of which are free which is awesome, the best one was £10 - " razzle dazzle and shake it" at new Alexander Theatre what we got to have a private lounge experience, learning to make musical themed cocktails and then design our own one too. BCW is a super easy way of discovering some awesome venues. The weekend felt like a relaxed Bar crawl. Would have loved to have the names and descriptions of the cocktails in the booklet, so you know ahead of time, but I guess keeping it a mystery might encourage everyone to visit some places you wouldn't go to otherwise. Definitely had a fab time, looking forward to next year!

Birmingham Cocktail Weekend 2016 was incredible! Thank you to the organisers, bar staff and volunteers for making it so memorable! Our highlights were the views and cocktail in Rofuto, the Razzle, Dazzle and Shake it masterclass at New Alexandra Theatre and seeing the city at night from the incredible Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Bar & Grill at the top of the cube. BCW is a great way to explore the city and try out new venues, there is an excellent variety of bars and events to attend and is amazing value for money! We will be coming back for years to come, it just gets better every time...roll on BCW2017! jtidy visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Absolutely fantastic night with great cocktails in brilliant bars. The guide book was a great help so we could work out where we wanted to go on the map. We can't wait for next year! Chris visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Really disappointed with this year's Birmingham cocktail weekend. The purchase of the wristband enabled you to buy various venue's 'signature' cocktail at a special price. We tried a number of bars and were disappointed to say the least, not only at the poor quality of the cocktail but the slow and sloppy service. To name but a few .. Aluna - 'signature' cocktail .. rum and a bit of theatre!! ... the theatre I'm presuming was the sparkler ... the drink ..a dash of rum to go with a glass full to the brim with ice. The most disappointing of them all ... Marco Pierre Whites, not only was the wait at the bar painful, after being ignored whilst the 3rd person came up after me and proceeded to get served, the waiters excuse was that he wasn't serving my side (arms length away) of the bar! The ultimate let down their 'signature' cocktail ... cheap and 'warm' sparkling Perry 'Chaumet' with elderflower and sugar syrup with a piece of cucumber ... really MPW ... that's your 'signature cocktail'. It was horrid. Will not be purchasing the he wrist bands next year .. definitely felt ripped off. Poor show organisers 😞 Tracy visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Amazing weekend again!! Very nice to be able to approach other people who have wristbands and discuss favourites. Maybe next year we could have a review of what cocktail to expect at each venue within the guide please Karlaphillips visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

My first time at this event and I have to say it was fantastic. Many good quality bars / pubs participated and the cocktails on offer were extremely good and great value for money. Nina visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

I absolutely loved this event, very well organised, great value and so much fun! I just wanted more time to get round all the fab venues and cocktails. Would have been helpful to know what was in each cocktail in advance, loved the pictures on Twitter. Lauren visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Brilliant weekend! Great bars and amazing cocktails. Looking forward to next year. Enabled us to discover new bars and places and saved lots of money with the specially priced cocktails. Michelle visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

great weekend-love the idea. I do wish the booklet said what cocktail it was in each venue. but all in all a great time, loved that lost and found held it in a private room aswell. roxanne visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Book should say what cocktail was available at each place as everywhere I went it was a gin cocktail. I also felt that the places I went to had the worst cocktail available as part of the cocktail weekend even though they had much nicer on the menu. Also the bar at Harvey Nicholls was very disappointing. Amy visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

An excellent weekend once again this year. Best cocktails were from Malmaison, Jekyll & Hyde and Aluna. The booklet was much better this year but I would say that details of the cocktails at each venue would be a great addition for next year. Overall, great venues (some I'd never visited previously), lovely cocktails, friendly staff at venues and great fun had by all. I can't wait for next years 😊 elissakat3 visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Really enjoyed my first cocktail weekend - as mentioned previously the biggest improvement would have been knowing what cocktails were on offer in each venue in the guide or via an app. I managed to get a list of the names from the birmingham mail website but it was still guess work. Some bars didn't even tell you what the cocktail was when you were ordering it! Disappointed with premixed bitter cocktail in gas St social and overly sweet iced tea in bodega but most venues suprised me with decent sized, nicely mixed drinks. Standout places were malmaison, mpw and Edwardian tea rooms - not so much for the cocktail but for finding somewhere I didn't know existed and enjoying a fab swing band! Will be back next year. joelliott13 visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

It was a great idea, great event, good opportunity to go into bars that you may not know where there without the guide. The Edwardian tearoom stopped doing there cocktails before closing time which was very disappointing and when questioned they then told us they had ran put of cocktails!!! The staff in the lost and found bar were rude and quite clearly not enjoying the business of the night. All other bars involved seemed to deal with the capacity of people in their venues without problem. Ching ying central cocktails were lovely and we all said we'd like to go back there to eat. Had a great time on Friday night. Like how the bars had become competitive with one another in order to try and make the best cocktail. It was definitely value for money and a perfect way to try out different bars in the city. Will def be doing it again next year. Evelyn visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Had a great couple of evenings doing a relaxed crawl around the signature cocktails. It'd have been nice to know what each venue's offering was before arriving though. Would be fun to have some kind of rating system in an app, or on social somewhere... Make it a bit more engaging. Will definitely take part next year. danmorrissey visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Chameleon ran out of cocktails when we arrived, so we couldn't have one from there, I didn't really like the cocktail in Penny Blacks, very sour, bitter taste, premixed already Faye visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Lord it! Had a really good time and was fun to try drinks and places I wouldn't usually. My friend and I managed to beat the crowds at most places which only added to it! The only thing I'd change is to have a list of the cocktails each place was serving in the guide - at a lot of places it was pot luck as we had no idea what the drink was! I had a brilliant time at cocktail weekend, once again! It's great that all the cocktails are the same price, so that doesn't dictate how you choose venue. It's a great way to visit new venues too! Such a shame I couldn't fit them all in! Nevertheless I didn't enjoy them as much as last year, it might be me, but I thought overall they were better last year. I think I'm just being picky though. Also a shame the Bureau apparently had a dress code! Still overall a great success! Cazzych visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Would have liked to have seen the Victoria do the whisky trail again, but still had a great day. One thing that would have helped was for the cocktails being put in the guide book. I'm allergic to vodka so had to queue at the bar for a while to then have to go elsewhere without a drink. leighsus visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

The cocktails seemed a bit weaker than I thought they'd be, but otherwise I enjoyed a great Friday evening in good company on part of the cocktail trail. Sampled the delights at Island Bar, Malmaison, Aluna, Penny Black's and rounded off the evening in superb style watching the sunset from the roof terrace at Marco Pierre White's. Despite being at the Mailbox, our group gave Harvey Nicks a miss as we were disappointed to find their main bar closed and replaced with a pop up bar which seemed a bit of an after thought located at the top of an exit stair well with limited seating and tables. It's as though they didn't want to welcome people who aren't their usual clientele to the store. Or maybe that was just our observation. Carol visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Have to say we were so disappointed with a lot of the signature cocktails this year especially Aluna and Marco Pierre White. Some bars are so packed as well you can be waiting up to around 30-40 minutes to be served. All in all though if you want to visit bars you would not normally venture in an have a good girly giggle would recommend. Cosmic_Girl visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Had a great time going round all the bars in Brum - lots of which I have never heard of let alone gone in before, to be pleasently surprised on how good they were! A wonderful day tasting cocktails with great friends! Only down side some of the bars were very busy & had ran out of glasses or ice - but on the whole a fabulous day & night! Very nice way to spend Saturday, locating all the bars hidden away in Brum. My only let down was not being allowed in to Bodegas for the Tequila tasting as it was too busy, really really upset. Donald visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Great weekend! Lovely way to explore Birmingham with a surprising amount of bars all services up tasty cocktails, most places would normally be charging £8-12 for a drink but the one you're given doesn't feel like a knock off. Places get very busy but order in rounds and be tactical eating in a couple of the places throughout the day do you can sit in the dining area, sorted! It's a really good idea and makes you try new places, however, the range of cocktails available could be larger; one signature cocktail per bar doesn't really cater for all tastes. Nevertheless we'll be back next year :-) Laura visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016

Really enjoyed this and the cocktails, service and organisation were,on the whole, of very high standard. Particularly, Malmaison and Harvey Nichols . Good opportunity to try new venues. One venue who will remain nameless did seemingly use it as chance to rip people off with decidedly substandard cocktail and service was dire.

Chose Saturday afternoon with friends, cocktails were mostly gun based but still very drinkable. Marco Pierre Whites, Aluna and Malmaison stand out. Especially Aluna and Malmaison mixed fantastic cocktails!!sadly there was a bummer amongst them.........Harvey Nichols!!! It's was Gin & Tonic with S slice of grapefruit. It was put in the glass & not mixed, terrible!!!!! However had a fab afternoon with great company. Will be back next year Julie visited Birmingham City Centre on 15 Jul 2016
