The opening week Saturday double-header starts with Arsenal v Forest at 12.30pm, with the Gunners looking to follow up on a fine campaign last term, which saw them lead the way for most of the season before falling at the final hurdle to finish as runners up. Forest showed real grit during the second half of the season to ensure their survival in the top flight and will want to continue their good form at the Emirates.
The late kick-off brings a clash of the league's two most improved teams as Aston Villa travel to the north east to face a Newcastle side still glowing from their qualification for the Champions League. The Villa are offf on their own European adventure, and the arrival of Pau Torres, Moussa Diaby and Youri Tielemans during the summer, the claret and blue faithful are hoping for an even better campaign this year.
