Film and Live Music: WHIPLASH

Sorry, this event has taken place.

Friday 18 March 2016
20:00 - 23:00 (doors at 19:30)
Film Screenings, Live Music, Something A Little Different
Over 18

Nadafilm brings live music to the world of iconic films. Seminal soundtracks are bought to life by the accompaniment of a live band before, during and after the feature presentation.

This is not a live score, nor a foyer band, this is a carefully selected schedule of your favourite film with intermissions of live music. Throw in at-seat service of craft beer and snacks, themed decor and prepare yourself to see films in a way in which you’ve never seen them before.

Whiplash the movie -

“Andrew Neiman is an ambitious young jazz drummer, single-minded in his pursuit to rise to the top of his elite east coast music conservatory. Plagued by the failed writing career of his father, Andrew hungers day and night to become one of the greats. Terence Fletcher, an instructor equally known for his teaching talents as for his terrifying methods, leads the top jazz ensemble in the school. Fletcher discovers Andrew and transfers the aspiring drummer into his band, forever changing the young man's life. Andrew's passion to achieve perfection quickly spirals into obsession, as his ruthless teacher continues to push him to the brink of both his ability-and his sanity.” Spencer Higham.

Great venue, intimate and pleasant crowd. Deceptive that snacks would be available- was only crisps and sold out quickly in the interval as they were the only snacks. Bar tender seemed high- others around me queuing to get served agreed. Didnt matter when at first she seemed quick and efficient but esculated to her ruthlessly grabbing the till and accidently lobbing the ice scoop at another customer. Didnt deter from the night was quite amusing but just not very professional. Music was organised well and slotted into film breaks well. Will definitely return! Naomi thank you for taking the time to write a review we appreciate the feedback. This was the first event in this series for what is a complicated technical event and therefore that is where much of the focus was directed on this occasion. We understand the comments regarding snacks and have it on our radar to improve for the next showing! MB xx
