The love affair starts outside at Libertine, a stunning French-Vietnamese restaurant in the centre of Brisbane, with its parasol-strewn terrace and pergola strung with fairy lights. And it continues once you step inside the historic Barracks building as awe-worthy chandeliers hang from vaulted ceilings and plush, dark wallpaper sets an intimate vibe.
When you’re not swooning over the gilded red and yellow interiors, make eyes at the food menu with its rich choice of sharing plates or - for the really hungry - a five-course banquet menu. Cocktails will also have you head over heels as classic concoctions are given an Asian twist, from yuzu margaritas to Vietnamese coffee old fashioneds, while a strong French wine selection is paired excellently with street food.
