Published . By Jasmine Lee Kennedy.

If you haven’t heard of this annual festival, let us give you the lowdown. It showcases light projections, music performances, and inspiring idea exchanges over 23 days, which this year will be from the 27th of May to the 18th of June. You'll find these at locations across the harbour city, from iconic landmarks to Instagrammable gardens. But as there's just so much going on, we thought we'd help you by highlighting some of our favourite events coming up in Vivid Sydney 2022.

Throughout the Vivid festival in Sydney, you can expect large-scale light shows, as well as immersive installations, meaningful artworks and reality-bending experiences.

Vivid Sydney Lighting Of The Sails | DesignMyNight

Unmissable, in two senses of the word, Vivid Sydney's Sydney Opera House is going to be seriously cool this year.

Lighting of the Sails

What: Would Vivid Sydney ever be complete without this eye-catching piece? Every year, an internationally renowned artist creates something magical to be beamed onto the Sydney Opera House. And this time around, Curiious will bring to life the Martumili collective's striking painting, Yarrkalpa - Hunting Ground, which depicts the Parnngurr community and their surrounds.

Where: On the Sydney Opera House, which will be viewable from the harbour. Fancy a burger and a beer for afters? Then check out Surly's in Surry Hills.

When: You can see this light show at Vivid Sydney every day from 6pm to 11pm.

Vivid Reflections

What: The Electric Canvas has used interactive projection technology to create a screen that turns every movement you make into an animation, which is then projected onto the clock tower of the station.

Where: Central Station and The Goods Line. Found nearby, The Duck Inn Pub & Kitchen is a top spot for hearty grub and refreshing pints afterwards.

When: Throughout the festival.

What: Famous artist Sam Whiteside will bring his immersive installation, Contact. What to expect? A curious, monolithic artwork which sees you walking through a haze towards a column of pulsating light, with a trippy soundscape from Patrick Liney. This one will certainly be mind-bending.

Where: Carriageworks.

When: From the 2nd to the 11th of June at various times.

Thanks to Vivid Sydney festival 2022, gigs are set to take place at incredible venues across the city. You can find everything from dance and punk to classical and folk, all from a range of huge names in the biz, as well as up-and-coming local talent. Please note that while some events are free, others require tickets.

Masego Vivid Sydney | DesignMyNight

Why not head to The Tilbury Hotel for some alfresco eats after seeing Masego?

What: An incredibly popular Jamaican-American artist, Masego is renowned for his 'future-R&B' tunes, which blend soul, jazz, trap and house for a unique and ear-pleasing sound.

Where: Sydney Opera House.

When: You can find this music show at Vivid Sydney on the 14th of June from 7pm to 8pm. And if that's worked up an appetite, The Tilbury Hotel is right around the corner.

What: This Japanese, all-female, genre-defying band has been killing it on the music scene. While often described as rock, they also bring in electronic and joyful house influences.

Where: Carriageworks. Make sure you're fuelled up by popping to Village Crown pre-show for elevated pub grub and tasty tipples.

When: 10th of June, 7.30pm to 11.30pm.

Vivid Sydney Supper Club

What: On Friday and Saturday nights during the festival, Mary's Underground will transform into a cool cabaret club. Expect smooth jazz, burlesque beauties and big names in comedy gracing the stage for a suave, intimate evening.

Where: Mary's Underground.

When: Every weekend during Vivid Sydney, from 10pm to 1am.

A huge part of Vivid Sydney is evoking change and sparking new ideas. And with that? They've curated a fantastic range of talks, workshops and Q&As.

The Art Of Deep Looking Vivid Sydney | DesignMyNight

Get to know art in a whole new way then wolf down handmade pasta at Fratelli Paradiso.

The Art of Deep Looking

What: With the aim of changing your perception, as well as cultivating creativity and imagination, this one offers an array of 'labs'. At these, you can engage with nature, architecture or art by utilising old wisdom and discussing the latest techniques. Need somewhere to eat and drink in the area? Venture to Fratelli Paradiso in Potts Point for authentic Italian eats.

Where: Royal Botanic Garden, Frank Gehry's UTS project (Dr Chau Chak Wing Building), Museum of Contemporary Art and Aurora Place.

When: There will be different sessions across the venues from the 10th to the 17th of June.

Canva on Diversity In Creative Industries

What: As one of the best things to do at Vivid Sydney 2022, this will shine a light on the importance of access and inclusion in artistic workspaces. The creative director of Canva, along with a group of panellists, will outline how the sector can better support it. There will also be a Q&A and the chance for you to tell your own story.

Where: The Great Hall of the University of Technology Sydney.

When: Takes place on the 3rd of June from 3pm to 5pm.

Australian National Maritime Museum X Vivid Ideas

Where: Australian National Maritime Museum.
