Champions of the Magpie Brewery and some of Nottingham’s smallest independent suppliers, the Crafty Crow is a gastropub well worth seeking out on Friar Lane.

First and foremost, the Crafty Crow is the Magpie taphouse, so you can expect to sample an array of the brewery’s finest exports here. A selection of guest ales rotate alongside these Magpie favourites, and there’s a lovely little range of craft and bottled beers to spoil you for choice.

The kitchen serves comfort dishes with plenty for meat-lovers, veggies and vegans to consider. Drop in for a sandwich or a light bite to keep you ticking over or stick around and linger into the evening, sample dishes include the likes of beef and magpie ale casserole, bangers and mash and slow cooked belly pork, and roast dinners with all the trimmings are served up come Sunday.

If your going for a drink and a good selection. Of real ales then the place is great. It's welcoming though staff attitude could do with some work (as my change was just dropped on the bar in front of me) However if you looking for food I would avoid it like the plague. Having ordered lunch only to be told they had sold out I then attempted to go through numerous selections before finally settling on the lamb and subsequently being charged more as a result which I begrudged slightly as it wasn't even my 3rd choice of cuts. When it arrived I was horrified by the undercooked vegetables and the laughable presentation and portions added further insult by the clearly microwaved Yorkshire pudding which was like rubber and the massively over cooked lamb which was hard going. Having frequented the place a number of times previously for drinks it's sadly lost my custom going forward after the service and quality today
