Manchester and London are the UK's brewing titans, with each having strong claims for producing the country's best beer.

So we're going to settle the issue once and for all by putting four of Manchester's best beers up against four London counterparts in a blind tasting session.

Team Manchester has been selected by Manchester Beer Week organiser and team London picked by blogger Matt Curtis and London Brewers Market supremo Doreen Joy Barber.

Each team will include one beer from each of the following categories: pale ale (sub 5% ABV), IPA, stout/porter, saison.

The event is taking place as part of Manchester Beer Week's Big, Buzzin' Party and ticket-holders will be given the beers in each category side-by-side and asked to choose the best.

So, included in the price of a ticket is EIGHT generous samples of beer. Can't say fairer than that. Come on down and help us prove it's not as grim up north as people might think!
