It's time for The Great Restart! After months in plague-stricken dry dock, Good Ship Comedy returns to South London with more killer line-ups. Last summer we hosted two triple-headliner shows as part of the sold-out New Normal Festival and we're back in Wandsworth by popular demand. Join us at Le Gothique's unique outdoor space in the grounds of the Royal Victoria Patriotic Building for this smasher of a show.

DANE BAPTISTE

Original, provocative and exceptionally prolific – Dane is one of the most exciting acts to break in years. The London born stand up made comedy history in 2014 as the first black British act to be nominated for a Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

He had incredible success with his debut stand up show Citizen Dane, completing two sold out runs at London’s Soho Theatre. He has since written and starred in his own BBC sitcom series, Sunny D, and made numerous other TV appearances including Live at the Apollo, Frankie Boyle's New World Order and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. His second stand up show Reasonable Doubts was met with sold out audiences and huge critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe, with his first nationwide solo tour following. A year later, he presented his third stand up hour G.O.D. (Gold. Oil. Drugs.) about our worldwide pursuit of wealth, power and pleasure which, ironically enough, resulted in a world tour.

This year Dane launched his brand new comedy entertainment format ‘Bamous’ on BBC Three to huge critical acclaim, cementing his status as one of the most innovative and hard-working comics in the UK.

"A striking set." Guardian

"Observational comedy at its finest." Independent

"A comical genius." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

MAISIE ADAM

Maisie Adam is a comedian from Yorkshire. Her comedy career kicked off in 2017, when she entered the nationwide So You Think You're Funny? competition (which has previously been won by many of her comedy heroes, including Peter Kay, Aisling Bea, and Tom Allen). Before she knew it, she found herself with a place in the Grand Final, held at the Gilded Balloon up at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and on 24th August she won the competition, becoming only the 4th woman to have done so in its' 30-year history. The following year, Maisie was nominated for the Best Newcomer award at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards for her debut show ‘Vague’, where she also won the Amused Moose National Comic Award.

Since then Maisie's anecdotal material and witty charm have quickly won her praise up and down the country and she has since appeared on Mock the Week, Have I Got News for You, QI, Roast Battle, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Hypothetical and The Stand-Up Sketch Show, delighting audiences with her delightful comic presence.

"Maisie Adam is phenomenal." The Scotsman

"There's something incredibly watchable about Adam - whether it’s her effervescence onstage, finding jokes in the minutiae of life or her fantastic physicality. Inevitably she’ll be compared to a young, female Peter Kay, except her jokes and performance are far more eccentric." The Skinny

CATHERINE BOHART

Catherine Bohart is an award-winning comedian, writer and actor.

She started performing stand-up in 2015 and has enjoyed a rapid rise through the ranks of UK and Irish comedy. In 2016, she was a finalist in both the BBC New Comedy Awards and Funny Women, followed by more success in 2017 when she joined the prestigious Pleasance Comedy Reserve at the Edinburgh Fringe.  In the past two years she has performed two critically acclaimed solo shows: ‘Immaculate’, an autobiographical hour about her life as the bisexual, OCD daughter of a Catholic deacon and ‘Lemon’ a show about smashing stereotypes around sex, sexuality and relationships.

HER burgeoning broadcasting career has seen her appear on E4's 8 Out of 10 Cats, Comedy Central UK’s Roast Battle, BBC2’s The Mash Report, Dave's Ultimate Worrier, ITV2's Stand Up Sketch Show and BBC NI's The Blame Game, as well as being a regular co-host on the podcasting phenomenon The Guilty Feminist.

A hugely deft writer and utterly beguiling performer, Catherine is fast becoming an unmissable comedy prospect.

"Packed full of laughs… she’s destined for great things." The Herald

"A supremely natural quality about her delivery." The List

"Pretty much the perfect comedy package.” Beyond the Joke

AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:

BEN VAN DER VELDE

One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.

"Sharp and crafty gagsmith, a life-giving compere." Chortle

"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.”  Huffington Post
