ONCE UPON A MIDNIGHT DREARY …

Enter the Dream within a Dream that is our Halloween tribute to the Master of the Macabre - Edgar Allan Poe. Mount the 100 stairs to the Century Club to enter four floors and Soho’s largest roof terrace dedicated to a celebration of murderers and madmen, revenants and revengers, fatal passions and premature burials.

IN THE GARDEN OF NEVERMORE
Party into oblivion on the rooftop garden where the damned souls of murderers return to Earth in the guise of ravens.

On the decks:

SNARE SURGEON - surrender body and soul to the dirty bouncy beats with house, r'n'b and hip pop tunes

CLAN DEXTINE - journeying through bass and time, from swing to ska, blues to balkan & roots to rave.

On the cabaret stage:

MORENO PERNA- Post Modern Baroque meta-theatrical visionary

SCARLETT O'HORA – Burlesque seductress of fire, glitter and gold

YAZZ - Butoh bellydancer and tribal flapper from Prague.

LYDIA DARLING - Visceral fetish artiste and rock ’n' roll siren of doom

SMASHLYN MONROE - brazen vixen of the sideshow underworld

PRINCE PROSPERO’S CASTLE from The Masque of the Red Death
To seek sanctuary from the deadly pestilence known as the Red Death the happy and dauntless and sagacious Prince Prospero and his aristocratic entourage have sequestered themselves inside his castellated abbey, provided with all the appliances of pleasure. Join them in a masquerade of the most unusual magnificence, but do not stray into the Black Chamber or approach the sinister, gaunt figure shrouded in the habiliments of the grave who lurks there.

As the plague bell tolls outside lose yourself in the glare and glitter of the waltz with maestro and musical mortician TROYLUS SEARLL

Now in the blood-bedewed hall of revelry THY LAST DROP will spellbind you with songs of the beautiful, the wanton and the bizarre.

As the great ebony clock intones the chimes of midnight THE BALKANOES will make a last stand against inevitable doom with their Klezmer Psychobilly.

Darkness and Decay impose their illimitable dominion, so dance unto the death with diabolical and decadent dandy JAMIE MOON.

THE SEANCE PARLOUR
Ligeia, Morella and Madeleine Usher returned to the mortal world from beyond the veil in chilling stories by Poe. Commune with the denizens of the grave and channel the spirits of discarnate entities at our SEANCE hosted by LONDON DREAMTIME and create your own message to impart to the spirit realm.

THE CONDEMNED CELL from The Pit and the Pendulum
Join the forgotten prisoners cast into the DUNGEON OF THE GRAND INQUISITOR. Here in the blackness and vacancy, in the depth of the most unmeaning despair, here where the shadows of memory lurk and your soul lapses into nothingness CAPTAIN CROP awaits to scourge your doomed flesh.

THE HOUSE OF USHER from the Fall of the House of Usher
Above a black and lurid tarn encompassed by decayed trees stands a melancholy mansion hung with sombre tapestries and armorial trophies. Here in the all-pervading gloom dwells RODERICK, the insane last scion of the ancient race of the USHERS. Below in the dungeon his beautiful twin sister MADELEINE lies entombed. One night, amid a tempest wildly singular in its terror and beauty, the coffin is rent asunder and the iron hinges of the vault broken..

THE SALON - While away the dreary hours of seclusion with BEATRICE DE LARRAGOITI and KARL LUTCHMAYER performing candlelit dirges on the theme of death and madness. To include “My Corpse is Soft as a Glove”, “The Song of the Mad Woman by the Sea” and “The Dream of a Witches’ Sabbath”.

THE TOMB OF THE USHERS - Descend to the ancestral burial chamber, select a velvet-lined coffin, choose the music for your funeral and lie serenely in state, serenaded by your playlist for the hereafter.

THE TRAVELLING MENAGERIE - Wonder at TIM MAYNARD’s legendary consortium of creeping beasts, spiders and insects: the heirs to the vanquished House of Usher.

THE LEPIDOPTERARIUM – Take an instructional class in setting and mounting a selection of the myriad butterflies that flit in the gloomy and sunless valley.

THE DRAWING ROOM
THE MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE: The brutal and senseless murders of Mme. L’Espanaye and her daughter has appalled and affronted Parisian society. MIA GUBBAY invites you to take up pen and paper and sketch the crime scene to help bring the sinister perpetrators to justice.
