Sonny Rollins-influenced tenor saxophonist, featured in a sold-out LJF concert last November, returns by popular demand to Toulouse Lautrec supported by a stellar rhythm section led by bassist Simon Woolf.
Welsh-born Roberts, after moving to London to take up a place at the Royal Academy of music, rapidly gained recognition as one of the UKs finest straight-ahead tenor saxophonists performing regularly with such luminaries as Mike Carr, Peter King, Jim Mullen and Mark Nightingale. The quintet formed with RAM colleagues Steve and Matt Fishwick recorded three critically acclaimed albums the first of which featured jazz legends Cedar Walton and Peter Washington. A later incarnation of this group performed in 2016 at three of NYC’s top clubs, Smalls, Smoke and Dizzy's.
Relocating to Prague in 2008, Osian has established himself as a valued member of the Czech & Central European jazz scene. He is a regular member of the Czech Radio Big Band and has toured with pianist Kirk Lightsey & former Jazz Messenger Valery Ponomarev.
