Contemporary jazz compositions with special guest guitarist
Jared Burrows from Vancouver Canada
This exciting quintet is led by saxophonist/composer Len Aruliah, featuring special guest guitarist Jared Burrows from Vancouver Canada. Strongly influenced by the writing and playing of the late Kenny Wheeler, Len’s intricate compositions feature evocative melodies, rich harmonies, and powerful rhythms, creating effective structures for improvisatory exploration by a superb London rhythm section.
Len Aruliah is a saxophonist, composer, and teacher active in London, UK, and Vancouver, Canada. Having released two albums featuring his compositions with his own band, he has also performed in the UK with many groups including the Hackney Colliery Band, and the Bristol European Jazz Ensemble. As well as performing his own compositions, he has composed and arranged for other ensembles. An experienced educator, he is a regular faculty member at the South Delta Jazz Workshop. Jared Burrows is a guitarist, composer, and teacher in Vancouver, Canada. He leads his own ensembles and participates in many other musical projects in jazz, free improvisation, and new music as well as in regular collaborations with musicians from India, China, and Ghana. He teaches at Capilano University. Long-time collaborators performing each other’s music, Burrows and Aruliah have been performing each other’s music since 1990 and have performed at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival in many ensembles. With a series of recordings together, they bring their eclectic and energetic music to the Toulouse-Lautrec with a top-class London rhythm section.
