Description
For over 100 years the greatest names in jazz history have performed at the world’s best known concert venue, New York’s Carnegie Hall. We begin in 1912 with the proto-jazz of James Rees Europe and then onto the roaring 20s of Paul Whiteman and the swing era of the 30s with music by Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong and Glenn Miller.
The 40’s and 50’s sees the dazzling experimentation of bands such as Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton and Dizzy Gillespie and into the 60s and beyond we pay tribute to the timeless music of greats such as Count Basie and his Orchestra, Tony Bennett and Miles Davis.
To play this wide diversity of musical styles with authenticity and excitement Pete Long and Richard Pite have assembled an orchestra of the UK’s finest jazz talent presenting a programme of some of your all-time favourites alongside some rarely heard and fascinating music.
