”The Eloquence of Miss Nancy Wilson"

The Eloquence of Miss Nancy Wilson will feature award-winning Australian jazz vocalist, Ingrid James who has been described as "a note perfect, brilliant singer" (Janet Seidel), while John Hardaker from Words and Music describes James as having "found the right point between the hip and the sweet...a major factor being James' warm and honeyed voice - like Dianne Reeves, is a voice born for jazz." Words about Music.

Nancy Wilson was an American singer with more than 70 albums & 3 Grammy Awards. Her illustrious career spanned from the '60's to 2011. She has been described as "the girl with the honey-coated voice". Never one to be labelled however, nancy initially focussed on rhythm'n'blues, soul and pop, then under "Cannonball Adderley's influence, she began to embrace jazz and torch songs.

Ingrid will be joined by stellar musicians from the UK including Sandy Burnett on bass, Pete Miles on drums and Alex Hutton on piano, "a gifted, thoughtful improviser and a mainstay of the London jazz scene" who has also been described as making "vividly intelligent music that stands out head and shoulders in a crowded scene" (Brian Morton).

"Ingrid James' vocal tone is total ear candy; warm, round and FOCUSED and her music is deep and informed by a great many influences...."
Nick Mancini, US Vibraphonist/Composer

"Ingrid James, whose note-perfect delivery and depth of lyrical expression, has elevated her into the elite of Australia's musical talents."
Steve Robertson, Portland Observer

"The intriguing thing about Ingrid James is that, where many other singers with such a well-established reputation would be content to rest on their laurels, she is constantly seeking ways to re-contextualise herself. Just when you think you have an idea of the sort of singer she is, she dreams up a new project to frame her beautiful voice and you find yourself forced to listen to her with new ears."
Pete Churchill, UK
