twice nominated for Comedy Club of the South two years running
by National TV & Radio stations Absolute Radio & Dave TV.

Always guaranteed to be a line-up to rival even the biggest comedy clubs in the country and all on your doorstep, for less than the price of a train ticket to London or Brighton. This month, it's as always, it's a fantastic Line-up of international acts.

THE ACTS PERFORMING ON THE NIGHT

MC Kevin Shepherd

Tour Support for Micky Flannagan & Ivan Brackenbury

  • Laughing Horse New act of the Year Finalist 2002

‘A true Fringe Experience’ Three Weeks

Krater New Act of the Year Finalist 2002.

Directed Zoe Lyons, John Hastings, Rob Collins, Julian Deane, Joey Page

Kevin moved from his native town of Bognor Regis with a burning ambition to become a successful stand up comic and instantly gained critical recognition, being a finalist in both the Laughing Horse New act of the Year and Krater New Act of the Year competitions (2002).

Hailed as one of the funniest and nicest blokes you could meet, Kevin quickly became, and remains, a regular performer at professional comedy clubs on the UK circuit. In 2009 he was asked to perform support slots for if.comeddies nominees (now called The Fosters Comedy Award), Mickey Flanagan and Ivan Brackenbury on their national tours.

Kevin has also enjoyed success at the Edinburgh comedy festival and 2013 saw his fourth solo show “Confess Nothing”. Kevin has been honing his skills at the fringe since his debut show “Comics Die in Hot Cars” (2006), developing his writing style with two more successful follow-up shows “Caronicle” (2011) and “Thus Spoke Kev” (2012). Kevin combines a witty, light hearted and often lyrical style of storytelling with laugh-out-loud punchlines and a charming onstage persona.

Kevin Shepherd: you might not have heard his name, but you’ve probably heard his jokes.

‘Shepherd is an open and honest performer...[his] greatest skill is creating visuals using just a few apt words or a telling phrase.’  Broadway Baby

‘Brilliantly observed, quite touching...Really demonstrates his eye for a well crafted turn of phrase, colouring it with nimble vocabulary. ’ The Skinny

‘You’ll leave with a smile on your face and maybe a tear in your eye’ Fest

    ‘It’s raw honesty and it’s refreshing’ One4review

‘Consistently funny...a good strong hour of laughs’ Fringe Report’

“Assured stage presence, deadpan delivery and good gags.” Last Laugh. Sheffield

  •       Opener Javier Jarquin

“JARQUIN IS SERIOUSLY TALENTED AT WORKING A CROWD” – THE STAGE

“HIGH CALIBRE THROUGHOUT” – MORNING STAR

“FRESH, FUNNY AND UNIQUE” – THE PRESS (NZ)

“DRAWS IN THE AUDIENCE LIKE AN INDUSTRIAL MAGNET” – SG FRINGE

            9 hour long shows, over 600 performances, across 27 territories;

Javier Jarquin is an extremely experienced and highly respected, multi-skilled performer.

Raised in New Zealand with Latin-American/Chinese parents, the multi award winning stand up masterfully weaves his unique perspective into every performance and delivers sharply executed insights on life as an immigrant.

Beginning his comedy career as the Winner of the 2007 ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ competition in Christchurch NZ, Javier went on to become a core member of New Zealand’s longest running improv comedy show Scared Scriptless, before travelling the world building a highly esteemed career as comedian, martial arts card thrower, improvisor and cabaret performer. The multi award winning talent went onto achieve Best Show at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival and Best National Artist at the World Buskers Festival.

His alias The Card Ninja has been a smash hit at Fringe Festivals everywhere since 2010 with a show bursting with mind-blowing tricks, incredible precision and theatrical virtuosity, as he pushes live performance to the absolute limit.

Queues for drinks was so slow & on the pricey side! Pre ordered / purchased drinks option. It would be good to be able to preselect your seats, rather than assigned on the day.
