Commercial Tavern Shoreditch Review - 142 Commercial Street

142 Commercial Street, Shoreditch, London E1 6NU

A beautiful looking pub from the outside and that's what I expected on the inside but the bar was raised even more when I walked in. There is no way the Commercial Tavern can be classed simply as a pub: It is more a bar / pub..a bub? If that classification doesn't exist, it does now! The decor is trendy/edgy with great furniture, wallpaper and a plethora of lampshades dotted about. There is a real buzz in the air as the Commercial Tavern is by no means big. For all you pool fans, there is one! You would think that a pool table wouldn't fit the decor and the feel of this bub, but somehow they pull it off. Upstairs there is another space with a separate bar, if downstairs is too crowded. There is a good selection of beers and they pride themselves of not having tv's or other pub clichés. The crowd is artsy and trendy but with no air of pretense and I have been told that it's a great little celebrity hotspot. Overall, the Commercial Tavern is without doubt one of the best pubs, sorry..bubs, in Shoreditch and probably London as a whole: Perfect for pre-drinks, after work drinks or chill out on Sundays, it does it all.
