Description
MICHAEL LEGGE
Michael is a stand up, writer, actor and compere, probably best known for his splenetic and over-blown contributions to cult podcast Do the Right Thing. He co-presented the Absolute Radio Sunday show with Dave Gorman and Danielle Ward and also performs occasionally with Robin Ince in Righteous Ire, Pointless Anger.
He has perfected the comedy of furious, impotent indignation at anything and everything, from the transcendent to the political to the mundane. All of his anger is shot through with his wide-ranging passion for music and pop culture, as well as an invigorating iconoclastic instinct.
Most of all, though, he is unmissably funny.
“A breathless attention to detail and a relentless mining for the best joke available. Caustically funny.” The List
"Wonderfully, cathartically funny." Chortle
TIERNAN DOUIEB
Tiernan’s done the comedy thing for ages now. His comedy is often about worldly political happenings in the friendliest and funniest manner possible. This is mainly because he got old and is now angry about everything but has a stupid bearded child face so can’t be that angry.
This is balanced by his stand-up for children and families which is mostly about bogies and superheroes. He is constantly on Twitter, writes and hosts the Partly Political Broadcast podcast, co-runs the successful Comedy Club 4 Kids and has performed and written several solo shows which have all done alright really. He’s also supported Frankie Boyle on tour. Tiernan regularly performs all over the world even though he really likes being at home eating sandwiches.
“Has more than enough energy to go round and he’s a hugely engaging onstage presence.” British Comedy Guide
JIM CAMPBELL
Jim is a stand up, writer and actor. His solo hours at Edinburgh played to sold out houses and critical acclaim and his debut was named one of the Top 10 EdFringe shows in the Amused Moose/2Entertain Laughter Awards. Jim has written for ESPN and Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3) and his podcast, The Football Ramble has won 7 awards, has over 80,000 listeners and recently packed fans into venues up and down the country on their inaugural tour.
“Exquisitely written, punchline-driven material without cliché. It’s hard to imagine a subject he couldn’t come up with an original and literate joke about.” Chortle
KATHRYN MATHER
A relative newcomer to the circuit who is already making a big impact with her world-weary, bone dry comedy. She's already won the prestigious Beat the Frog World Series at the Frog and Bucket in Manchester and is sure to go on to bigger and better things.
"Here black humour certainly hit a chord with the room." Chortle
BELLA HULL
Member of the illustrious Cambrdige Footlights, already an award-winner and with megawatt charisma, Bella Hull is a very new act with very big things ahead of her. Expect to fall in love with her uncompromising big sister charm.
AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:
BEN VAN DER VELDE
One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.
"Sharp and crafty gagsmith, a life-giving compere." Chortle
"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine
“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.” Huffington Post
