BETHANY BLACK

Decidedly dark and deliciously different, an evening with Bethany Black is a one way ticket to a world you never knew existed. Managing to balance being “dark-tinged but magical” (The Guardian) with being warm and chatty, she has built a cult following for her brand of confessional comedy. She has worked alongside some of the greats of the industry and written jokes for acts as diverse as Brendon Burns and Jimmy Cricket.

Having started performing in 2005 she was initially branded ‘unremarkable’ by a clueless imbecile reviewing her first gig. A few short years later she’s now being told “Bethany Black should prepare for world domination” (Bruce Dessau, British Comedy Awards) and of her style; “the anecdotes are pitched perfectly…very funny.” (Chortle). She also has a burgeoning acting career having appeared in Russell T Davies drama 'Cucumber' and 'Dr Who'.

ANDREA HUBERT

Winner of the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Award and with an exciting new sit-com in development, Andrea is one of the finest new writers in the country at the moment, specialising in deliciously dark and transgressive material that will have you laughing despite yourself.

“A keen writing skill…archly cynical attitude…her slick, fluid set is rich with inventive, sarcastic gags hung round an intriguing personality.” Chortle

AURIE STYLA

Aurie Styla is a stand-up comedian, presenter and comedy promoter from London.

Having started stand-up comedy back in 2010, Aurie has tirelessly honed his craft and his likeable charisma has earned him fans in the thousands.

His consistency and warm persona sees him regularly employed as a warm up comedian for the major broadcasters and on shows such as The Big Narstie show and The Mo Gilligan Show.

In 2016, Aurie self-produced and toured his first live stand-up comedy special "Working... Hardly!", around the UK, with all dates completely sold out. In 2017, he toured his second "Straight Up!" again with all shows sold out. Due to overwhelming demand, both tours were extended. He’s currently touring his third show ‘Just Like that’

Aurie currently presents on BBC Radio London, every Monday night from 8pm - 10pm. The show is called ‘The Scene’ where Aurie invites guests from all avenues of entertainment to interview, and discuss current affairs, with a comical twist.

MATT HIGHTON

Reknowned for his surreal storytelling Highton is a key member of the Chortle nominated Weirdos collective (“the closest thing we have to a modern day Comic Strip”- Chortle) and writer/director of their cult anarchic pantomime smash hit The Colonel (‘Top Ten Christmas shows 2013’ Time Out and The Independent). Highton also plays a lead role in the sell out show Knightmare Live (★★★★ The Independent, ★★★★ Den of Geek, ★★★★ Metro), which is preparing for a second national theatre tour that closes at The Lyric Theatre in London and has residencies at Comedians Cinema Club (★★★★ Chortle) and the Geekatorium.

“Warm, intelligent and beautifully written.” The List

ALEXANDER BENNETT

Alexander Bennett is a comedian based in London, who started writing and performing on the comedy circuit at the age of 15. Since then, he has won praise from a writer for The Guardian, notorious comedy critics Chortle and British comedy legend Harry Hill. He currently performs up and down the country, and is a rising star on the British comedy scene.

Alexander also created Hell To Play, the comedy game show set in Hell. He has several Edinburgh fringe shows under his belt, and has performed at festivals such as End of The Road, Leefest, Larmer Tree Festival and Ambition Festival.

“Witty, weird and dark, the one to watch out for: at the spearhead of a wave of great new comics. All hail Alexander Bennett!” Harry Hill

“Touched with madness…choice laughs… I don’t think I can begin to do him justice; a producer and performer of some refreshingly different material.” Chortle

“Warm, insane and very funny.” Guardian

AND YOUR RESIDENT HOST:

BEN VAN DER VELDE

One of the quickest wits around and a much-loved compere, he always brings a jam-packed back of nonsense, silliness and wisecracks to every gig he hosts.

"Sharp and crafty gagsmith, a life-giving compere." Chortle

"Wonderfully improvised riffs showcasing his impressive spontaneity and sharp tongue." Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

“The perfect comedy club host – he is a master of audience interaction. The audience weren’t just warmed up, but pretty hysterical even before the first act of the night hit the stage.”  Huffington Post
